I've had a couple. Both were accurate with Remington factory ammo, but finding ammo was a royal PITA, so I sold them both.

I have one.
Shoots good. Kinda cheap rifle.
I guess I am drawn to oddballs. I would get rid of it ...but, I don't think it is worth much. I don't remember where I put it.

Yes. Always thought it was a great Fox round back when Red Fox had a bounty on them and you could get a good price for the pelts. Winchester 22 mag. had a better following and several companies were offering the ammo, while the 5mm was hard to find ammo for in rural area's where I lived.
I wish I would have bought one and stock up on the ammo.
By the time I could buy one in my area I already had a 22mag. and the 17 Rem. was just coming out. In 71 I bought a 17 Rem. and that was the beginning of the end for Predator rimfire rifles for me. It was until a few years ago that I started shooting my 22 mag. again.

I have a 592 and a 580 parts gun.

I thought that the 5mm REM MAG was getting a chance to rise from the grave when Aguila started making 5mm ammo, but they started and then stopped so quickly that no firearms manufacturer had time to study the market and make a decision of whether or not to produce new rifles in 5mm.

That said, the 5mm Aguila Centurion ammo never shot as good as the original Remington 37 grain HPPL ammo.

I have had at least one 591 in my arsonal since they were 1st introduced- for those who believe a 22 Mag is as good as the 5MM all I can say is U never owned one. When fox pelts were worth something it was my go to gun as well as Turkeys.
Mine has been bedded and has the 541 Trigger in it although the accuracy is not on par with the 17 HMR is will and does kill as effective - the ammo issue is really sad the 5mm Aguila Centurion false hope is SAD for us all . I have been in constant contac with them and am getting the sam "Canned Pitch" for 5 years there 22LR ammo is at give away prices you would thing that they would concentrate on the 5 MM which is still in HIGH demand

I got my first rifle when I was 13, a Savage 34M 22 magnum. A neighbor kid the same age got a 591 at the same time. This kid was a mid life oops, born to older parents and very spoiled. He was also a braggart of the first order. I remember hunting woodchucks with him a couple of time and how he would go on at great length about how much better the 5mm was than my 22 Magnum. He even admonished me to stock up on ammo because he thought the 22 magnum was a passing fad.

I'm still shooting that 34M almost 50 years later.

I have a 591. I, too, wish I had bought a few cases of ammo. I have bought and sold a couple of 591''s over the past few years. Last ammo I sold at the Calgary Easter show for $50 a box, and the fellow asked if I had more.

I have two CZ 455's in .17hmr. At $16-20 a box, they are too expensive to do any "fun" shooting. I use them to great effect on gophers.

A nice 591 would be a good buy at $199 IF (BIG IF) ammo was available from Aguila/Centurion.

buy it and get a 581 barrel and make a nice shooting 22 mag out of it, will have to do modification to the mag and bolt head, iyou will have a 2 round shooter, or make it a single shot, did this to a couple 591s8

What's the word on the aguila ammo? Will it ever come back?

I love my 591 and 592 and my last brick of aguila is getting low

Recently picked up a Remington Model 591M. Can you use regular 5mm ammo? Or do you have to use 5mm mag? Or either?
Thank you for your time.

Sorry guess I should’ve stated “non mag 5mm”.
I’ve noticed some ammo posted as “5mm” and some posted as “5mm mag”.

I have a mag fed, don't remember 591 or 592. Cheap-ass Remington crap, designed by some kid in the shipping dept, but good cartridge. I have quite a lot of ammo, don't shoot it , afraid it will break.

I have a WSM.

What is it that you don’t like about the rifle? The way it shoots? Does it jam? Or just doesn’t feel right?
