I've got 4 VX-3i 3.5-10x40s. 3 of them, the one on my 300WBY, the one on my .243, and the one on my .280 all sighted in just fine, the one on my .30-06 was a pain, but finally settled in. I'll watch it and make sure it holds POI.
What the one on my 06 did was I shot a first shot, which was like 8" right. I made one adjustment like 60 clicks left. It was still about 3" right. Then another adjustment 30 clicks or so left, shot it, it was 2" left. Clicked it about 20 clicks right and it was about 2" right. Made about 10 clicks, right on the money. I shot 3 shots and it grouped about 3/4" so I left it alone. These experiences befuddle me.

You just got to open it up and check the inside... This was a brand new 3.5-10. Mounted on a 7mm mag, a few zeroing shots, then on the fifth round the windage turret fell onto the bench.

That would inspire confidence Sounds like you are the stereotypical leupy lover, you really have no idea what your scope is doing, but think it is fine. Yeah, next time out, hes going to be asking us why its shooting 3 inches to the right and low and why its now shooting 3" groups at best.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

The scope I was talking about in this thread was a new 2.5-8 it had the duplex cross hairs all good. I thought, I needed CDS on this scope. So I sent it back for the CDS install. Mounted it, take it shooting and crapola it's just trash. I also have two other 2.5-8 scopes that need to be shipped back.
I was thinking, (right) if I send my new scope back, to have the CDS installed, they would have it all fine and dandy when it leaves their shop right. Right, I was so wrong. I gotta tell ya, I don't think I would mount another Leupold scope on a rifle of mine. I have some mounted, and thus far they are working okay. Just not worth all the pain that it seams to produce. Such a waist of time. So now, I have 3 L. scope that are junk.
I wasn't wanting another Leupold bashing party. Just telling the truth.
Y'all take care.

My VX3i 4.5-14 with CDS would dial up fine but upon returning to "zero" on CDS the groups would be about 4" to 5" low and left from where it was set. Not what I would consider returning to zero... Did this every time and after a half dozen shots it would jar itself enough to return to actual zero without touching the knobs.

Well I've never had an issue with a VX3i. Never. Stopped buying Leupolds before they came out.

Me too, sold my last leupy quite a few years ago, life is so much simpler now. They were the best scopes available 30 years ago and basically all I would use It is really sad that a company that founded its reputation on reliability has been ruined by the bean counters to the point where I trust a philipino made Burris over a USA made Leupold
