Here's our place. I'm picking up #2 son in a couple of hours and heading down there. Tomorrow is the start of Mooseboy's last Yute season. By next Fall he'll be 16 and hunting on an adult tag. In two more years, he'll be at college and making excuses to the old man about how he can't make it down for Opening Day. Sigh!

This is an awsome topic, I love to see other hunter's hunting camps. It reminds me of a good book "Legendary Deer Camps" by Robert Wegner. Full of pics and stories of old and new camps. He also has another book, "legendary Deerslayers" that's a good one too. Keep the pics coming guys.

smile

I'll try to get a shot of it this weekend.

I've been waiting for someone to decorate the pole for me.

hang some ornaments from it.... deer shaped.

last weekend I left it up to my wife & nephew, they couldn't seem to get it done, this weekend it will be up to my daughter (youth hunt). if she can't get it done I guess I'll have to wait till regular rifle opener & do it myself.

smile

BTW, I went with a tamarac pole spanning about 25' between 1 large tamarack & one large jackpine. but, it's just a dang pole till someone shoots somethin to hang on it. smile

last weekend I was getting so discouraged I almost hung a tire swing from it just so the younger kids had something to do.

Picture hanging on the wall at the camp of my late dad and I with my first deer.

My dad was a mentor to many really good riflemen. He ran an Boy Scout Explorers Post for a number of years. All we did was hunt, shoot and work on guns.

I count eight rifles in Grogel's photo. That cabin would be a might cozy for eight.

Great picture & good story Savage99, thanks for putting it out there.

here's my deer pole, tamarack pole spanning between a big jackpine & a big tamarac)

you can see by it's length (aprox 25' long) that I am anticipating good things in the near future (less than 2 weeks now)

hopefully we will be able to try it out, decorate it soon, if not I'll have to make a swingset out of it. smile

Its getting to be that time of year again. Lets see those camp shacks and the changes that have been made. The deer are moving again and seeing several nice shooter bucks this year already. lots of little guys too. Won't be long now!!
