There's also the 75gr x..... but it's not factory.. it's about the bullet construction...

oh, after that all SD's for decent hunting bullets go above your .200 grail.. coarse the 180 in question is .225 so that would meet your Grail of elk killing bullets....

My personal grail is .250- .280. You are obviously a genius that knows more than all of the firearms industry, You should start your own company. Call it: Failure to Penetrate Bullets and AMMO. You might last a week. I think that you should stop digging your hole before you have to stay down there.

I am still waiting for those "elk recommended" factory loadings of low sectional density. They don't exist pardner. Only loadings that you would shoot at an elk as a stunt to "show us" how small you can go.

Calling me names isn't going to win you any debate much less kill the game you are hunting. Maybe you should yell these obsceneties at elk, that'll get 'em!

Dude, it's amazing the lengths that you'll go to prove a point that don't exist... I gave you loads and bullets that met your criteria and now it's a stunt!
With all the crap you've been spewing, it's obvious that you should be asking the questions Not answering them....
Now go ahead and dazzle me with this SD stuff. Tell me how a 168 30 cal A-max will penetrate as well as a 168 TSX.. they've both got the same SD...
Oh, That's right.. You can't. cause the SD ain't as important as the bullet construction...

also, just a little FYI... SD Changes after impact... imagine that! once the bullet upsets the SD #'s are not the same... But of coarse you knew that already..

jabs,
44 Caliber (.429-.430")
240 grain, SD = .185 265 grain, SD = .205
I watched a fella kill an elk with a 44 lever action last year. Could be mistaken but don't some guy's use 444's?

I've known some big [bleep] killed with 300gr bullets from a 45/70 of course that is .04 over the 'magical' .200 SD.
I'd also not want to bet against a 30 caliber 130gr TSX launched from a 300 Roy at 3500fps, that is .04 under the 'magical' .200 SD.
I could go on, but ain't.......

Old Paul is sayin that a .44 weighing 100gr will do the job as well as a 25-06 100gr bullet. It just ain't true. All of the cuss words in the world will not change this fact.
I'll repost because I do not believe that you are actually reading the posts: "Two smiliar shaped solids both weighing 100grs going the same velocity, the one with the smallest diameter will outpenetrate every time, no exceptions. Smarter people than you or I make the bullets and use SD as a criteria. Deal with it. "
With that I am signing off and going to sleep.

Dude, you're as spastic as an old man's colon......... I can always count on the campfire to brighten my day & put a smile on my face When the day comes that a .338 180 gr. is too small for elk...well... let me put it this way... I've never been accused of being the sharpest knife in the drawer but WTF has sectional density got to do with a bullets ability to drop an elk??? Am I missing something here??? Am I going senile??? Should I go in early for an increase in my prozac dose???
