"Yes sir, here's the application for a CCW. Oh, by the way, the fee is $5,000.00. The license/permit is only valid for one year and you'll have to renew each year. That fee will be $5,000.00, too. Have a nice day"

Just watch and see.

You can bet on something like this. And regardless of what the ruling is, NYC will continue to enforce their laws.

Next, these questions need answered- what other right requires a permit? Do you need a permit to exercise free speech? Do you need a permit that says police need probable cause to enter your house? How about a nice easy, not so expensive license from your local Sheriffs department that says you can have a trial by jury?

How about a mandatory safety class before you’re allowed to vote?

I don't think so. They will pass new laws for a new pistol license that meets the Court's criteria and they will pass laws restricting carrying in certain "sensitive" public areas, but it can't be the same old law. Neither the NYC mayor or NY Governor have said that they will ignore the Court's decision. They can't.

I love how our demented ruler said that the decision was "unconstitutional". Like he would know.

GOD Almighty blessed us with Justice Thomas and Bob Hayes for sure. Thomas Sowell and Willie Mays. Dayom. I had his rookie card as a kid. Bleck friend of mine stole it. SOB.

And Nipsey Russel and Flip Wilson and Richard Pryor were favorites as was Amos and Andy.

God Bless them all. And the Supremes and Charley Pride. Had their tapes. My Lord. Good times. grin

We all got REALLY lucky Thomas was the justice who penned this one. Truthfully, I’m a little shocked Roberts would pick him to write the opinion.

He locks the 2A down good and tight, or at least as tight as you can get on a court that contains a couple of known wafflers (Although Roberts has been good on 2A).

Not sure how he could have put it any better. Once again, Thomas reminds me of why he’s been my favorite sitting justice since Scalia died.

This is BIGGER than Heller, IMO.

Numbering the actual amendments as if continuing a mere list was careless, or cunning, but did cast doubt upon their absolute status. So far the Supremes have upheld the God given view as the apparent intent. The militia language in the Second has muddied the waters considerably, but scholars have pretty much read beyond that stipulation deciding that since all the other rights enumerated obviously pertain to the individual alone, not any temporary group formation, the second is indeed a personal right just as inviolate. The militia language, therefore, clearly indicates bearing arms is a guard against tyranny from whatever quarter, not just gang bangers or burglars or geese, something the Jerry Nadlers of the world find shocking indeed. Any government worth the name can certainly overcome technicalities, however. A few million AR 15's in the wild might not be much of an obstacle either, at first. IRS and Post Office buying lots of ammo sure seems crazy. Walmart alone has dealt a crippling blow by simply ending ammo sales.

I appreciate his intent, but they are amendments. They weren't were not enumerated in the original Constitution drafted at the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. They were ratified in 1791.

We can thank George Mason, Edmund Randolph, and Elbridge Gerry for holding out and not signing the drafted Constitution in 1787 without including the Bill of Rights.

The 2'nd, like any part of the Constitution can be amended away. All it takes is ratification by the states.

Or the 2'nd could be erased entirely, and would be, were an entire new constitution be drafted at a constitutional convention.

I belive an amendment to eliminate the 2'nd has less chance for ratification than does the "equal rights amendment". How long has the latter been in the works? 100 years now?

But be careful what you wish for when wishing for a constitutional convention. There are a lot of Communists out there wishing for that as well.
