Took my younger son today. He shot a small doe. Probably not what he wanted, but was exactly what I wanted. We’re gonna try and can it. They’re out moving today.

I miss being a kid. He got out of bed about 9:30. I walked with him up a hollow, and pointed out a deer to him. He shoots it, and he’s done.

Are you fellas still in your rifle season there? Our rifle season is all done up here in Pa. We have archery & flintlock coming up the day after Christmas , but we're only allowed to take one buck per license year, and as many doe's that you have tags for. We have a doe tag drawing & can only apply for doe tags one at a time. You can get up to six of them if you're lucky enough, but they are usually sold out by the second drawing.

Me and the kid walked up on a nice buck today, standing broadside to us for at least a minute. I never could get him to see it until it finally took off. Then he couldn’t get a shot.

Calm and quiet in the woods now. Almost no wind.

Went out this morning.
Jumped 2 does on way in.
Parked it right their by the peninsula stand on yellow Creek was heading into the SE corner.
2 mins after I sat down about 80 90 yds out thru the semi lit timber something with a rack was chasing a doe.

Thru out the morning Mr 1.5 yr old 6 Point and his girlfriend came by 2 more times thru the bottom hard woods.
Got up about 10 and went up to southern ridge.

Mr 6 pt and his honey baby came in eating hard browse twigs and buds again.
While working my way up to the ridge jumped a doe and a fawn about 100yds out in the timber.
They took off like Carl Lewis to the west border.

Going back to the other COE/ TWRA spot by the Duck club in the morning.
Trying to get as much time in the woods from shooting light to 1 or 2 in the afternoon before this schitty weather comes in Thursday.

Supposed to rain all day thursday and turn in 1 to 3inches of snow Thursday night.

Might go out to Stewart State Forrest on Friday if enough snow on ground to find track and hit wind sheltered hollows and valleys.

Supposed to be howling wind Friday.
Deer will hole up on sheltered slopes and valleys to get away from it...
Probably do something similar on Saturday but at the COE land by the Duck club.

That's about it for near term hunting plans...

Good.

you folks need some of this cold we've had for 2-3 weeks now.

Veritable heat wave now, only got down to +13F last night and is now 35 on the back porch!

Naw.....
Supposed to get down to 3 to 5 degrees here for like 2 or 3 days.
Then warm back up into the 40,s day and mid 20,s night.
That's more than enough cold for here till the next system.
