Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

Yea, lucked up and drew a spring bear tag for 24. Looks like pretty limited access and a chance for some really windy weather

You can kill a mediocre bear to biggish bear with out drawing that tag in a lot of areas of the state. This is the hunt to hold out for a truly big one. I passed 3 bears between 91/2 and 10ft range waiting for a giant with my tag. Saw the one I wanted and he zigged and I zagged so went home with no bear and less regrets. Not a dink hunt just to fill a tag, hunt to the last moment. Second part I can't disagree with but at 100 to 200 yards my 375 is slippery enough.

If it ever ends up ugly seems that we actually see more reaction from bears from 416 up...
Regardless punch em in the right place with a good bullet avoiding bones going in seems to work with a myriad of calibers

Contrary to rumor bear bones are not big nor particularly hard. They bend a lot more than moose bones. I believe they flex rather than break and the result is a tougher bone. They did not evolve to survive a bullet, but they did to survive love taps from boars.

So one doesn't want to hit a big bone and have it richochette back at you? Who knew bears shoot back? One should definately avoid using a .270 then..... (It's good I don't hunt them. ) . . .

Local guy here drew that tag. Could not find a single air taxi that would take him. Ended up not hunting.

Or if it will get through bone. If you have seen more than a few wounds. That said break all the bone you want on the way out. I won't give the go ahead until we are angled to avoid bone going in. You and I both have a few years hunting. I simply head for the closest to 100 percent results I can get. I"ve seen more than a few wild angles even on deer after a leg bone or joint was hit. I've even seen an arrow exit a deer out of the top of its neck, entry was from elevated and in the ribs... broadside...heck I've seen javelina bite an arrow at the back end before it gets all the way through... but I digress YMMV we can all do it the way we want I suppose.

We are talking scapula In the area of shoulders. I have many times posted pictures of an average Kodiak bear, shot by OlBlue, scapula. Took the time to remove the meat on a beautiful sunny day. An orange handled knife can be seen through the bone.
I agree on taking bone out on the way out, but I am not passing if the shot that presents itself is through the scapula, inbound.

I know hitting the point of the shoulder on the way in (angling toward me) will grenade the heart/lungs with bone shrapnel. DRT.
