My birthday was/is in August and you could rent the city pool(with lifeguards) during the evenings so a couple years we had pool parties. Last edited by SamOlson; 02/27/23.

Grandparents had a pond 800 yards away. Neighbor had a ski lake built with lots of little fingers sticking off it just wide enough for a canoe. Creek at the back of the property. My summers were spent in the water. Small Game, Deer, Turkey, Bear, Elk....It's what's for dinner. If you know how many guns you own... you don't own enough. In God We Trust.

The number of people I went to basic with that couldn't swim (about 15) didn't surprise as much as how those same 15 didn't understand WHY they needed to learn to swim. US Navy and all - I guess that wasn't connecting for them. I get people not knowing how - dudes grow up in cities where they just don't leave or have access to legitimate swimming. I don't understand not seeing how learning to swim would be a good deal - IN THE F-N NAVY. Me
