If you don’t have the presence of mind to know whether you have a weapon on you, there should be an immediate adjudication that bans you from having firearms for life.
Same should go for DUI
The offender deserves everything she gets just for doing any activity in California to begin with !

Wife's good friend and our neighbor here in Utah drove to CA to get on a cruise they had booked. She forgot about the little 5 shot hammerless 38 that lives in her purse. Lost the 38, missed the cruise, and has a court date in CA. How does this episode end? Concealed carry is a tremendous responsibility that far too few fully appreciate. Your friend's wife was very irresponsible.

Who drives through 2 states to get on a cruise ship, carrying a loaded firearm that they don't know about?
Your wife should be careful of her friends.
(I know zero about Utah/California extradition, if there is none, I would skip the court date and never return to California.
A lawyer would be better versed in that. Have a friend that won't return to a certain state for similar circumstances. If he's caught there, there is a warrant for him. Don't know about statute of limitations. Depends on charges I guess, don't know.)

When will people learn to stay out of [bleep] places??? You can't blame this on California. Be the same if they tried to leave on a ship, leaving Kansas. You think Kansas would pursue the same legal course as California?

Also this may be a federal not state offense depending on who’s jurisdiction the dockside port of entry is classified under so it might not matter if she was in California or Florida.

She should have told them she was part of the antifa protest for the lgbtqrstuv day of hissy fit. She would have been immediately released and all charges against her dropped. As it stands though, she’ll be assumed to be conservative so they’ll milk this for all its worth. I assume she/they have assets. The government will want their pound of flesh to teach her a “lesson”

You have to go through a metal detector to get on a cruise ship? Well that sucks. I’ve always had to go through TSA/Customs before leaving port and when you come back. You can tell how many cruises I've been on lol. Get yourself a Glock 7 and sail right through.
