AI is sizing up to be a real threat to freedom if (and when) the wrong people control it. It will be the next revolution in tech, and will be abused just like people always do with anything that gives them some power.

AI is sizing up to be a real threat to freedom if (and when) the wrong people control it. It will be the next revolution in tech, and will be abused just like people always do with anything that gives them some power. This is the concern. Things will get dicey when AI begins writing its own code and some of it already is to a limited extent as we speak.

I can see AI having a HUGE impact when it comes to replacing lots of low-level jobs like taking food orders/material orders, not to mention, taking lots of what I call “paper-shuffling” jobs. Think about jobs like “loan application officers” and lots of govt bureaucrat jobs.
Don’t know if AI will be any more “competent” than the moron at the DMV, but at least it won’t have the bad attitude???

Elon Musk said that AI in the wrong hands or used in the wrong way is the biggest threat to humanity. Needs to be regulated. He hates regs, but in this case it's needed.
Regulated by who? Well that's another problem in it's self.

It's all manmade and human programming runs it. It all comes down to who writes the programs. If they're liberal, it's not going to be good.
On the same line, CGI is getting so good that we've had discussions here about whether videos are real or not. They figure it's just a matter of time before it gets so good that there will be actors who will be nothing but computer files and we won't be able to tell the difference. That will greatly reduce the costs of making movies and the multi-million salaries will be gone. When this happens, you can bet that there will also be CGI politicians who can sucker everyone and we'll never know who's behind it.
