What would a good Target model be if we get really serious?

Thanks.

FINALLY !! Someone get's it right. Swap them grips out for a set of Pachmayers and you have the perfect revolver.

Thank you

Model 15-4 is a great revolver in a S&W.

In a Colt, I enjoy the Detective Special.

Taurus makes a ported .357 in their model 627.

Blasphemy, you are going to anger amuse Boomers with safes full of vintage S&W revolvers. They luv: extra screws in frame, pinned one piece barrels, recessed chambers, no lock, no MIM. That is to say they appreciate quality and refinement. Personally I do not care, because I'm an uninformed dolt S&W MIM parts do not break and harmless lock hole can be plugged or covered with larger cylinder release for $50 or less.

Ha! Excellent edit!

Since people are posting N frames I’ll at least post an actual 38 Special one. I had to drag a bunch of 38s out of the range box and give them a cleaning up since me and the boy went out and burned up a few hundred wadcutters yesterday. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
I guess the one on the right is KW’s Melvin’s brother Marvin since he doesn’t have a T grip. The one on the left is a 15-3. Marvin lives in the nightstand most of the time. The 15 gets shot a bunch and carried too. The 10-5 shoots low with powder puff wadcutters, not low enough to matter for its intended purpose but 3-4” at 25 yards. The 15 with the adjustable sights is pretty easy to make good hits with it to 75 yards or more. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
I’m about out of my 1950s keg of Unique so I’ve been experimenting with PowerPistol for my full power load. 6.0gr under a 158 “Keith” seems like a good place to be. It’s accurate and should be around 1000fps.

Either an older S&W K38 Target Masterpiece or the same gun under its current name of Model 14. They were designed to be Target models. Most come with all the Target goodies; Target trigger, hammer, sights, grips and an overtravel stop. They are very accurate.

It was a two inch Model 15 that I was originally instructed with back in 1980. My instructor was a retired Deputy Sheriff and Certified NRA Instructor. He used to say the same thing about it, i.e., due to the improved sight picture (vs a Model 10), you could get great accuracy from it, despite the short sight radius.

Carry a Model 37 RB 3" around a LOT, snake load first! smile
Keep a 37 SB in the office drawer.
Shoot a Model 10 4" quite a bit, and keep Melvin's twin in a Model 12 on the nightstand.
"The Warden" seized a Model 10 4" around 25 years ago, from me, and carries it in her truck. She's used it with 148 gr wadcutters to behead MANY rattlesnakes.

Tried it as an EDC. Like toting a lead brick on your hip! LOL!
Went with a S&W "M&P" in .40. Love it!
40 is a bad mofo

Sadly, the CBP switched from the .40 S&W to the 9mm.
Sad mistake. CBP doesn't have many shootings, but the .40 S&W had proven to be reliable.
I don't have any idea "why" CBP decided to go 9mm, but all the agents I've talked to would like to have the .40 back.....both male and female!

M10-8 This one sees a steady diet of 158 XTPs. Mainly because I have a chit ton of them.

I have several K frame Smith's, but day in day out, awful hard to beat a 4" heavy barrel M10 or M64 . Portable, packable, rugged and dependable.

Ruger .357 in SP101 or GP100, depending what frame and barrel you want. Then you always have the option to shoot mags, and have a stronger gun as well.

LCR is pretty crappy. Had a 357 version, and thought it sucked. Sold it and got a SP101, and also have a 6" stainless GP100

My 38's
Two I just inherited from My brother I lost recently. The Colt Dik and the 5" Smith. The middle is a Hard chromed (I think) 15-2 ex service pistol. I believe that because of some electro-penciled numbers on it. There is some light pitting under the Chrome.
Edit: Could some help date the S&W 5" ? Thanks!
