What a bunch a retards. Arguing about how men should eat. Get it together, ladies. More about how soon one gets weak, sick, degenerates, and dies. The argument comes about because the ones that are getting weak, sick, are degenerating and dying, because of their diet? ... don't understand that, and then defend it on an infantile, visceral level. Free Education - hard sell. GR

I went to page one and this thread is the typical campfire sh ! tshow from the start. People with good intentions or looking for true help or inspiration and those who attack with baseless or incorrect data or comments only to fuel their narscissist agenda. This includes fk'tards that post photo's of sh ! t food to fan the fire.
I know I was obese to morbidly obese most of my life. It started when I was five being force fed by my grandparents causing me to gain about twenty pounds in one summer. As a kid I had no clue what happened but developed an eating problem that went really bad until I was about sixteen. At 56 I discovered Primal Blueprint and here, the fact that eating triggers insulin release, so on further research found Jason Fung and IF and the sh ! t just jelled. My photo's are here as proof somewhere, nothing to hide.
Primal Blueprint
1. Eat lots of plants and animals (this is not low carb) 2. Avoid poisonous things (crop oils as an example) 3. Move frequently at a comfortable pace 4. Sprint once in a while 5. Get adequate sleep 6. Play 7. Lift heavy things 8. Get adequate sunlight 9. Avoid stupid mistakes 10. Use your brain
Not specifically listed but in the details of #1, avoid grains and sugar. Exceptions are fruit and recommended to avoid fruit if fat loss is the goal but otherwise limited.
My A1C was 8.9 and now it's less than 5.6 and I am no longer taking Metformin for many years, thanks to PB and probably more so due to IF.
In a push to see the abs I can feel, I started another continuous fast (water and non-calorie liquids) on 7/5 at 205 and this morning I am 187 and will continue to 7/31 and break the fast only for my daughters who want to take me to dinner for my birthday that has passed. I don't lift heavy but I lift three days a week and really concentrate on my core that benefits my track riding. I lift the same now as I do when not fasting, so my fasting has limited if any reduction in muscle mass because I am fully fueled by the fat remaining on my core and not "starving". If I am not seeing my abs after a short break I will continue my fast that requires no effort, none, it also saves me a lot of time and money. The fact that I am and have been in ketosis from day two, is simply confirmation that I am burning fat, and since I am not eating the ONLY source is body fat.
The public in general don't or won't support fasting and that's perfectly fine, for the rest of us who know better we will be healthy and stronger for living with an open mind.
Even Fung states in his book don't even tell people you are are fasting...it's wasted effort and I am believing he is correct.

Quoting because this is the most important thing by far in your post. The other stuff while good does not mean nearly as much because diabetes and or insulin resistance is the granddaddy of all diseases according to many. You have found the proper diet for your metabolism regardless of the macros. You say it is not low carb but based on your description, my guess is that it is significantly lower than the standard diet which you were eating when you were overweight. Exercise is great but you didn't fix that A1c with exercise, you did it with diet. I'm glad for you.

RDW, Congrats on doing your research and changing your life. Dr. Jason Fung is the real deal. Your story along with many others can not be disputed. This thread started out with good intentions, to post some info that could help people that need some help. Hence the title (IM fasting for health, weight loss and longevity.)
But in true campfire fashion it quickly turned into
look at me, I'm perfect, Look what the Fuuck I can cook.

I went to page one and this thread is the typical campfire sh ! tshow from the start. That is nothing compared to having your own homosexual stalker, like I do lol Congratulations on transforming your life RDM! Like so many of us with slow metabolisms, we are fortunate to have discovered Intermittent Fasting. I have seen Dr. Jason Fung mentioned often here, but I personally never heard of him. One day I was on YouTube looking at diets and came across The Snake Diet, the founder "Cole" turns a lot of people off but I find him hilarious. After watching all of his videos, I took the plunge, and 90 days later I was 65 lbs. lighter, lowered my blood pressure, and eliminated my inflammation issues. Anyone that has come here saying that you burn away all of your muscle or it's dangerous, has no idea of what they are talking about. I feel amazing and will be Intermittent Fasting for the rest of my life. When you mentioned: "I was five being force fed by my grandparents causing me to gain about twenty pounds in one summer" I doubt that they were doing it intentionally, to them most likely going through the depression, it was an act of love. Our Grandparents did not have the type of information we do these days. Cheers ~

There's some good nuggets of info in this thread and at the same time some absolute garbage.
People really interested in outcomes should probably go elsewhere for information, as this has become a hot mess.
