I made mine Rick Jamison had plans in Shooting Times many many years ago. It is like Tikanut's. Again, 3 legs for the most stable. https://portercalls.com/portable_shooting_bench.htm

I really like the DOA rotating bench. Have had a lighter weight homemade one and a heavy duty caldwell but the DOA is more to my liking.

Just to muddy the water, here's an old thread about ideas for a tailgate benchrest. Tailgate Benchrest

My approach would be 4x8 plywood cut in half, glued and screwed to double or triple thickness. Use plumbers pipe and brackets for legs and attachment, three legs only. Instead of expense of offset brackets, I'd put washers under one attachment screw to get the offset angle I wanted. Sand, paint/cover, cut carry handle if desired, legs screw off for transport. All under $100 I'm betting.

That is sweet! My FIL has a woodshop and can build anything. Rather than buy, I've got him a winter project thanks to all the input.

an update on the pivot bench.... I closed in the front of the shelf with a drop-down door because I had a big rain that blew under the porch and soaked the shelf carpet. Problem solved, as it happened again.... stayed dry inside.

I had a couple $100 in points on the Cabelas card. The little brown truck dropped this oiff today. It is still in the box.
People who choose to brew up their own storms bitch loudest about the rain.
