I guess I'm in. I have a wood stock blue .222 from several years ago. But, I'm left handed and it is right handed and never the twain shall meet.

rattler, I own a Kimber, love it (so far, it's only been a month or so..)

A .308 Montana like Brad's, or else the same thing in .338 Fed just to be contrary, is making me think evil thoughts... so you don't need to apologize! :-)

But up until recently the price difference put them in completely two different categories. Remmie's recent price increases are changing that some though IMHO.

So. How does it Thump? On the Recoil end. I'll bet no more than a 06 would, in that config.!!

Here is my .350 mag M7 thumper before I put a Leupold 2.5-8x on it. She kicks ass on both ends. I love it, and it has been my go to rifle this season.

That's a short Vari x II 1 3/4-6 Leupold on mine. Recoil is tolerable even with the pre R3 pad factory plastic stock(8lb).

Sakoluvr, that's sweet. Wish I could find a custom shop take off for mine, maybe!

I may just have to order a McMillan for Christmas!

Jumping in late, but count me in.
I only have one but it's a wood stocked .260 with a Leupold 2x7 Compact on it. Had it since 97/98 I think.
Always had a liking for that setup.

Just a note on the price comparison in previous threads. I don't know anyone that pays list. I just purchased a new model 7 CDL for $410 after rebate. Even my wife said 'that's not bad.'

I have 2 model 7's, one in 308 Winchester (shoots 1" groups) and I just bought a used 260 Remington M-7; both are stainless with 20" barrels.

I really like this 308, but the 260 Remington is disappointing so far. I bought it used (in like new condition) and put an old Redfield 3x9 on top. The first dozen 5 shot groups were about 4-6 inches. I finally located some factory 260 Rem loads and I'll try them along with some other handloads.

Maybe the rifle's poor accuracy is why it was on the used rack in like-new condition.

The Model 7 Stainless is a great concept - handy and light, but if it doesn't shoot, it goes.

I have two stainless model 7's and both have been rebarelled and restocked. One started as a .223 and is now a .223 AI with a 24" Shilen tube and HS Precision stock. The other started as a .243 and is now a .257 DGR with a 24" Douglas barrel, an HS Precision stock and a Gentry three position safety. Both have Warne rings and wear Leupold Vari-III's. Both have had triggers tuned and shoot under MOA but are heavier than I anticipated.

depends on the bullet weight, but 120's are pretty much nothing to be concerned about.

a bit more stout than my .308, but it weighs 13 pounds. wink
