I'd at least look here. Probably where my next truck will come from. https://www.laurabuickgmc.com

Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but this one is a little lower price...

To me the only reason to have a diesel is if you can use it in a business situation that allows its expenses to be a write off and depreciation as well. Serious..mb

I'd say he should get whatever he wants.

I bought a '06, 6.0L recently for $20K with 125K miles... but I wouldn't pay $40K for what they sell new today, let alone $75K+. The repair bills for those new trucks make a 6.0L seem cheap.

Laura Chevy in Missouri gets plenty of positive reviews these days. I would give them a call to discuss it. Would be an easy flight up and a 1 day drive back home.
With any diesel though I would recommend a 3500.
2500’s just don’t have decent payload ratings due to the weight of the motor.
Good luck

So if one can't write off a $90,000 diesel he should buy a $80,000 gas instead?

Such a well though out intelligent reply based on the O.P's post and followup posts.

Articulate, and packed with compelling arguments and explanations why it would be a terrible mistake.

Mind blowing, and another reason I love the experts on the 'Fire...................

GM does offer a veteran, first responder, etc discount if one qualifies. There may be other discounts that they offer as well. Possibly another way to chisel away at the total cost if their loan interest rate isn’t higher than other loan options thus offsetting any discounts they may be offering.
If your state has a sales tax can you purchase a vehicle from a state that doesn’t have a sales tax without being penalized for doing so? Might be another option worth looking into.

That is not a bad rate at all. How long ago was this?

Aww Belfield. smile

The last time I stayed in the motel there, next to the Trappers Kettle, was on the way to our honeymoon in the Black Hills.

My new bride said "it would be fun to stay in a dive motel one night just to say we did."

I said "I know of a place." LOL

There was a cracked out guy standing outside the motel that started asking us if we were there to arrest him because he left his truck in Medora and somehow got to Belfield where he "called himself in."

I stayed between him and my wife and told her to go up the outside stairs to our room while I got the bags out of the truck. I get up to the room and she is laughing and says "well, you delivered on the dive motel" and pointed to a placard on the bed that stated "this time of year we get an influx of water beetles in our rooms. Do not be alarmed. They won't hurt you."

LMAO
