Walls and gates with armed guards do work historically, we all know about the Berlin wall, sure...but the reality was the communists pretty well sewed up Eastern Europe, thousands of miles, for decades. Until there is a change in government though, the CBP will continue to facilitate illegal entry, and draw wages, retirement and benefits.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

It's not "what" they cross, it's the benefits they get by being allowed to do so...
1) Close the Border. And mean it. Enforce and immediately deport.
2) Deport those illegals here. Take everything they have. Seize money, bank accounts and holdings to pay back part of the welfare, healthcare, food, obama phones, and free housing, as well as whatever administrative costs to taxpayers was for them being here.
If you do the above they will largely stop crossing over. Beyond that, when they see they will be deported with nothing but the clothes on their wet backs, they will deport themselves with whatever they can gather.
Any other solution.... isn't. You are wasting your time, Barry. Maybe, but like several other posts, he hits the nail on the head. Trying to keep them out, is expensive and futile. Make them not want to be here. They won't come. Punish and deport those who come, make the futility their's.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Didn't read the whole thread. What I would like done will never happen, but a tower with an M2 every hundred yards, also having the border cleared as a free fire zone. A few MK 19's would be nice but not needed.
Rotate military units through the zone. Any military members who refuse to shoot, make them admin.
Very serious problem at the border.
Atleast start whacking the mules. Any cartel with a weapon, free game. Yes, could be an international incident but what do we have now?

Nothing will happen because the Mexican government/cartels are paying off our politicians to let it happen. You have to start with our government and clean out all the treasonous officials and staffers. Mexico wants illegals to keep sending money home and the cartels make huge money from human smuggling. They pay off our officials to allow it and probably threaten them as well. The fox is guarding the henhouse. I believe it is rotten from top to bottom and both parties are in on it.

The military has been full of illegals for 20+ years, where have y'all been? Do you really think they will defend this country against their cousins, nephews or others who resemble themselves..?

I've only been considered an adult for the last one, but suffice to say... there's no going back to what America was. Now we get to figure out how best to let America collapse, as it's a forced hand at this point, but who is in power during the collapse determines how bad it gets.

The wall is a waste of time and money. Take away the incentive to be here.
Go into the suburbs of any decent size city around 6AM and watch for empty lots, closed up gas stations etc. full of illegals waiting for work. Not unusual to see 50+ in each lot. 15 passenger vans start pulling into the lots around 6AM, the drivers get out and picks 8-10 illegals and loads them up in the vans and takes them to construction sites. At around 6PM the vans return, they give each guy cash for the days work and the whole process begins the next day.
These guys are working for less than minimum wage, but since no taxes or SS is taken from their pay they bring home more than legal workers. The folks who own the construction companies not only save on salary, but they don't have to pay any taxes either. The cost of the construction project isn't any cheaper, the management just keeps more in their pockets.
This is EXACTLY how MTG and her husband made their money. Those are the people they need to fine and throw in jail. Take away those jobs and we won't need a wall. For some reason, thats never discussed as an option. The reality is that the politicians regardless of their politics don't really want to get rid of the illegals. Not only do they use illegals but the people that line their pockets use illegals. They will throw a wall up to pacify their constituents but they will still get their yards cut by illegals.

I'd finish the wall, and every one of the state's National Guard would have to patrol it several weeks a year for training to help the Border Patrol. The mass deportations would commence day one. It will be cheaper to get them home than to keep them. To get the Nat'l Guard involved in enforcing Fed law, they would have to be "deputized". At this juncture, CBP is reluctant to deputize ANYBODY! Nat'l Guard is already "on duty" on the border and assigned to CBP. CBP will only allow them to shuffle papers, prisoners, patrol vehicles and other mundane duties. That does free up CBP agents for more serious tasks.
