I apologize for no pictures so just looking for range of views on a rifle before I drive away from it.
A 270 featherweight -1958 serial. Non schnauble front end stock. Has what appears to be aluminum butt plate with the peak on top. Fit not great as wood is 1/16 plus on the top seemed a bit much but I’m not great at diagnosing pre 64s. In 90% condition. Back screw in top of receiver others missing
I was trying to get a range of value as he wants $1750 for it and that seemed fairly high but it was a 270 featherweight in very good condition so figured I’d ask for opinions.
He also had 98% pre 64 Alaskan for $4500 if that helps with sellers mind set.
I’d also point I’m left handed but always wanted a pre 64 so going to give shooting right handed with it a shot. I’ve got lh post 64 model 70s but the itch is getting to to ignore.

I think it is about $300 too high. The aluminum buttplates did not have the bird beak perfectly inletted. The sides should be fairly flush and natural aluminum.

No pre 64’s had schnables; so that is correct.
Price on the 270 is not out of line if it’s truly “great” condition; but 90% may or may not be “great.”
This is where we need pics.
For reference; 97%-98% 270 featherweights will bring 2k or above, even in this market.

Thanks.
It has the high comb stock. It’s at a gun show so I’ll try to get a picture or two.
I was here for a different pre 64 375 h&h with good metal but wood finish is quite worn and bumped into the 270. I was wanting one example of a pre 64 and the featherweight 270 maybe better example than the 375.
Since he had the Alaskan pretty high was thinking he was just real proud of them.

Part of it depends on what time is worth...It takes longer to find a .270 FW than one might think. But from the description I do think that 1300-1500 is probably about right on that gun, pictures will tell the story.

That area between 90% and 98% covers a lot of real estate; and the price increase is not always incremental.
