Friend of mine cooks deer meat and turkey breast steaks in Butter flavored crisco in an electric skillet. Sounds nasty but there are never any leftovers.

We use quite a bit of Crisco (well, the store brand). It’s better and cheaper than commercial pipe lubricant for putting gasketed irrigation pipe together. Lubes great, doesn’t get washed off in water and goes on easy with a roller or just your fingers.

No idea why it’s in the cooking isle at the grocery store?

Crisco = Corporate poison... Crisco tastes like schit, makes me feel like schit, welds itself on the pie pans, requires "Purple Clean" to remove it...... Lard from home raised hogs is the way, tastes good, i feel good, no "stuck on" problems...

That's the only time I've used it.

Please do, should you make a crust.

wife is now using butter. She makes great pie crust.

I had her make me one with lard once. It was the BOMB!

We are shearing sheep tomorrow.

Lamb tacos is the centerpiece.

I made pico de galo, cilantro lime crema and refried beans.

There is a half cup of lard in the refried beans. Oh my.....they are good.

The wife is unsure. She doesn't like lard.

She is weird.

My isn't fond of it either for what she considers health reasons, although I'm sure her heritage shows through when she eats refries made with it.

What the heck, shearing sheep in early March? Aren't them sheeps gonna freeze? Sposed to go down to 14F here Thursday evening.

Yeah...they get a little cold.

You just have to feed em extra for a little while as their fleece weaves back together.

Couple days and they will be right as rain.

It's only supposed to be 20 below wind chill tomorrow.
