Graduated HS in 1976. It was pretty common knowledge that at least 2 female teachers were banging male students. At least 2-3 male teachers were banging female students. It's never been that uncommon, just not talked about as much.
Nobody much cared, and no lives were ruined by it. Not saying it was right, just that it isn't anything new. And not just teachers. The age of consent used to be as young as 12 in many places and a LOT of girls were married by 13 or 14 in my parents' generation.
Yep, when I was in high school it was common knowledge that a female gym teacher (very hot) was having regular sex with a senior. This was confirmed when, right after he graduated, they got married.
The variance is sentencing for these crimes is pretty extreme. Some get off Scott free, others take a whooping. I work with a dude that got into some underage porn. He was jailed for about three weeks, and now under house arrest. Dude lost his career and it will likely cost him about $30,000 in legal fees. Another local dude was caught molesting three of his daughters. He gave up parental rights and walked Scott free. Amazing. I guess it depends on the DA and their perspective on the issue. Both of these instances happened in rural N.C. counties.
II find the suggestion that anyone would be ok with a teacher molesting 12 year olds a bit bizarre.
Just the males apparently...and only heterosexually.
Everything else is very bad.
Jim and Dutch; Good morning to you both, I hope that you and your respective families are well this morning.
As I believe you both might be aware, our youngest is a high school teacher who is enough like her old man to go down the odd rabbit hole in study.
I'm blessed too for sure that both of our girls still will sit down with me when we get together and we can have some pretty frank discourse. Oh and no, they emphatically do not agree with me on a lot of subjects.
That said and based on some chats we've had, this sort of thing is really, really bad for the kids. As she and Prof. Jordan Peterson is wont to say, "We don't even really know how bad", as in we've not been able to measure it yet, but it's bad.
Not only that but of course it damages or certainly has the potential to damage present and future relationships for student/parent, student/teacher and parent/teacher.
There's nothing good whatsoever about that sort of thing, sorry that's pretty clear.
Like a whole lot of trends we're seeing today, we just don't know how bad or how many generations it might affect.
I was in high school in 1968, big school in suburban Atlanta. I had a hot blonde Geometry teacher, she was 22 years old, it was her first teaching job. Word got out that she was banging a football player. But Doug was no child, he was 6-4 and 225, and supposedly he was 19 years old but he looked older than that.
The Principal found out, and the word was that during Christmas break, he invited Miss R. into his office, and told her she needed to resign and leave town and they would call it a day.
On January 3 we had a new Geometry teacher. I guess Doug had to find a new girlfriend.
She informed the 12 year old that "they are" the father of her unborn child??
What has happened to English grammar in the US??
That's gender pronoun wokeness.
"What are your preferred pronouns?"
he / him
she / her
they / them (for neutral gender; non-binary)
The problem for the woke, is that there isn't really a singular, neutral gender pronoun. Well, actually, there is one: it. But I don't think they want to use that word for obvious reasons.

Doug wasn't a minor, but at least the principal had the sense to recognize a potential hand grenade when he saw it. Nowadays, it's understood the inappropriate power dynamic in a relationship like that.
The sexual assault of children only comes into effect for female children.
At least that's what the Boomers say.
That's because most teenage boys in school fantasize about a hot teacher making them stay after class for remedial work.
You are wasting your time with the "using Boomer as a crutch for their intellectual vapidness" crowd..
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
Did y'all ever watch Streetcar Named Desire. Blanche was a high school English teacher in a small Southern town. Word got out that she was banging some of the students. The principal invited her into his office and told her he wouldn't file charges if she would resign and skip town.
Blanche resigned on the spot and took the train to New Orleans, and moved in with her brother in law Stanley.
