But Sam has said he doesn't own anything, just an employee. (If I found that statement, I'm not trained enough to paste it) How could working the ranch as an employee turn his "household into spending $500 per day? Impossible.
Even if owned, household, vs. operation a considerable gap. Have you seen the vet bill on his rez dogs lately? That dog....lol Can't remember if I whined about how much my sweet little wife paid to get ol' Lucy the big rez pup all fixed up but it was worth every penny. I don't own any land but do own my cows, a small interest in a grazing association and a couple pieces of work related equipment. Guess we did recently buy an ATV and I included that in my 'stimulating' the economy post but the household spending is still large and quite stimulating. Not gonna say what I spent on guns and ammo so far this year but it's yuge, yuge I tell ya! lol And I'm also not going to explain how fun it is to pay taxes when you don't have any children and low overhead...

I just did some quick math.
Our 'household' spending is around $500 per day so far this year. $40k/80 days into '24. That is called working for your welfare and reinvesting all your cheese back into America. Your household? You, your wife in a dwelling? Or the farming operation, the buis. a diff. That's not including any work related expenses, just household chit, it's crazy! Wow! rough year. I was just trying to understand if private home expenditures or using the home as a business base. I do understand how that works & pretty much what can be written off as a business expense, even down to part of the laundry bill. We had to replace central heat/air last year but comparing, we got off easy. About 7 grand.

Folks down the road a bit take advantage of it here too. Unlike your schoolbus driver, I've given up on contacting them, bu phone or by stopping up at the house. Seems to keep them contained better now after somebody ran over a bunch of his fowl one day and then all of his goats mysteriously diappeared never to be seen again. My old hired man totalled his pickup one night on a black cow owned by people that always had cows on the road. Somehow....he got a tow home and it was never called in. The next day the owners of the cow were interrogating the whole town to find who killed their cow. They were gonna make the person pay.They never did find out who it was....and they got enough pressure that they had to fix their fence. That's basically the rule here in our county. As far as I have been able to determine, all the unincorporated parts (basically all except the County seat) are open range. Hit a cow, or sheep, or any other critter on the list, you pay the farmer.
