I am a Winchester guy, but I have had continue to have affairs with Remington's! I am quite fond of 722's, and 700's from 222 to 244's with a 541S as one of my favorites. There is a fellow that makes a stainless steel mag for them, that even makes me like it better. The Model 31 has always been a magnificent piece of machinery, just hard to find an exceptional condition one where I roam. A Model 1900 Side by Side schooled me on how much I appreciate Damascus either on a knife or a firearm. I had a near perfect one when young and poorer, that separated itself from me when a Gentleman made an offer, I couldn't refuse! The 725 has been elusive for me, I have seen very few and of those they were molested or had hard use. In all honesty the thrill of the hunt is what keeps me motivated on the oldies but goodies and I do have my favorites.
Happy Hunting Fellas, we're a dying breed!
If your a leftist, whatever Donald Trump says or does, that pisses you off rest assured, I am a Happy Camper!
Besides the full out customs, Number one slot for me would be my 700 Bdl that came from the custom shop. I bought it from a friend who used to post on here. From day one it has been a screamer with 140’s, 150’s and 160’s. It has some great memories built on it. Close second is a 700 SPS in 223. It just always seems to end up in the truck or in the side by side. Deer, hogs and vermin have been been dropped by it. If Remington gets back to making the CDL in 25-06 I will be speed dialing a dealer.
First, here speaking "Collector/shooter" not hunter for my frame of reference regarding Remington rifles. In that context... My favourite Remington, my early Model 30 Rifle from 1923 in the first configuration. Sporting half stock with finger-groove forend, unique factory aperture sight and crescent heavy steel butt plate wrapping around the toe. Those times using a number of surplus 1917 parts, some still military inspector marked. Into 1925, those were 'cock-on-closing' actions which I prefer on some rifles.
Here's to Remington, the Firm it was for hundred fifty years plus! Best! John
I've always liked Remington 700's. My favorite is probably my .280 Mountain Rifle, but I also have a 7mm08, .30-06, 7mm Rem Mag and a .300 Win Mag. They all shoot well and have been reliable. They run a bit lighter than M70's or Ruger M77's which is nice for some kinds of hunting.
without a doubt the Remington LVSF. I've had a bunch but the 2 best were a 308 and 7-08. The last 308 I had was the most accurate gun I ever owned. Sold it to a campfire member. No flys on the little fireball either.
Swampy has risen from the dead and on Easter to boot. Your looking the same but your girlfriend looks rode a little harder and put away wet to many times. Best you use her a little less vigorously if you want her to last. Good to see you again anyways. Mb
" Cheapest velocity in the world comes from a long barrel and I sure do like them. MB "
My current favorite is a lightly modified 700 Classic. 300 Savage, barrel cut to 22in, target crowned, Timney trigger, Leupold VX2 2-7X. Came out very accurate and makes a great deer rifle.
