For a $415 dollar rifle delivered, I think it will be OK.

Fired Bout 200 rounds, mostly FMJ, using 2 different 30 rounders and 3 ten rounders.

Never missed a beat, I also did some target shooting. Couldn’t get to 100 yards due to the recent snow, but I did get set up at 70.

This is with 55gr Midway seconds and 24.5gr 2230.



More testing this weekend. My son will be doing the shooting as my eyes are fuqked.

For $415 I'd be ecstatic. Those Midway seconds fmj or target?

Looks pretty damn good for those bullets. Those are probably just like the ones I bought the other day. 55gr sp. Basically a Hornady sp.

Yours have issues. Look like Sierra bullets. Did you break the nubs off with a pair of pliers or what?

That doughnut ring pulls off with thumb nail and the tip breaks off with same. No tools

According to the target they dont' have issues.

Of course no need to see FMJ groups because most FMJ projectiles are not capable of good groups no matter the rest of the components.

I did shoot a 5 shot group with Hornady 55gr FMJ with 8208 XBR, not great. Top group.

The lower group is 53gr Sierra MK with 748.



Remember this is only 70 yards, not much of an accuracy test, but will do more this weekend after the snow is gone.

748 is super temp sensitive. FYI.

This is from mine on Monday, mounted on a PSA Geissle SSA-E lower ($299). The upper is a BCA 20” SS .223 Wylde, $211. Burris E1 3-9x50. 100 yards of course.

I got the side-charger to match the .22 mag version I bought last Fall.

Top group is ten handloads with 27gr CFE 223 55gr VMax in Norma primed nickel brass. Below, the group is ten Fiocchi 40gr VMax factory loads. The open center of the square is 1”

I like the side-charger for scope use, especially on the bench. For that convenience, you give up a bit of convenience in cleaning, but that’s a small thing considering the number of shots I fire. I have a piston carbine upper on order which will require a lot less cleaning than a DI model, and it’ll also be a lot lighter.

The .22 mag has proven to be very accurate as well, with only a couple or three feeding malfunctions thus far, all with Federal 50gr. It’s a bit harder to shoot well with the required mil-spec trigger setup, but ammo on sale is about half the cost of cheap .223. The 30gr VMax really cooks at about 2300 fps. Lots of fun for $206!

Pappy348, that top 10 round group is impressive at 100 yds. I would be very happy with that for a $299 upper. Nice shooting.

The upper was $211. The PSA lower came with a Geissle SSA-E for $299, also a bargain.


Yup, I’m pretty happy with both BCA uppers. Cheap fun for certain. The .22 mag, also with a 20” heavy SS barrel, did right around 1 moa for five shots with a couple ammo choices that day as well, with a 1-4 scope and crappy mil-spec trigger in the $159 PSA MOE lower. It puts everything I’ve tried so far in effectively the same spot at 50 yards, but at 100, the much slower 50gr load drops almost 4” compared to the 2300fps VMax load. Haven’t tried any “standard velocity” 40gr at 100 yet.

I watch these guys on YouTube testing these cheap AR’s like the BCA. They shoot several mags, do some accuracy testing, then comment, “ Now I’m going to shoot it till it breaks”.

What should we expect “when it breaks”, what the first thing to go and what else is going to fail on a cheap rifle that will not fail on a more expensive rifle?

Beats me. The BCA has an MPI bolt, something frequently mentioned as important. The upper is made from a billet, heavier in places than standard ones. The handguard is their new version and seems plenty sturdy and solid. Staking is good on the gas key, and the Gen 2 charging handle design seems solid. I saw someplace that a reviewer had one of the GK screws fail and that it wasn’t the proper or maybe preferred quality. Not much else I can see to go wrong, except maybe some leave with bits not properly tightened, loctited, etc. My lowers are PSA forged mil-spec, so no worries there.

The side-chargers are somewhat simpler than a conventional rear-charger with FA. That should be a savings without compromising quality. “Real” AR guys probably know of other stuff that might be prone to fail, but the other parts are pretty standard stuff, I believe.

Gonna keep my eye on a couple of things like the screw holding the bolt handle in place, but I don’t expect any trouble for my use. When my piston upper arrives I’ll give it a good looking over too, though it’s not cheap, just different, and simpler in different ways
