The guy is 93, and this is a goofy picture. In this picture he was at an event for Jane Goodall, and he looked way better in the other press pics. He is rocking the high trousers though!
That boy has had a good run and it appears he has stayed true to himself.
My Grandma lived to be 89, she said the hardest part of growing old was watching all her friends and family die. When my Dad (her son) died she had had enough and died 3 months later, I think she died of a broken heart.

My mother died last year at 104. She got a covid booster and a week later died of a stroke. Related? We'll never know for sure but we're suspicious. Anyway, she didn't have a single old friend left. She outlived them all. She knew younger ladies (80 and younger) in her church and did things with them but she never really connected with any of them. She lived with my sister for her last 7 years.

It's not over when you lose. It's over when you quit.
That seems crazy that an 80 something year old could have their momma living with them.
My sister is 73 so she's not ancient. But it was kind of different having someone that old be the hostess. Until Mom died, there were 5 generations of women in town from a 7 year old up to great great grandma.

Yeah, that seems to be the worst part of getting old, i.e., the world you always thought of as "the world" passes away, to include all the people who populated it.
I know Eastwood's ranch manager, it sounds like the old boy is still mentally sharp.
Yall go pheasant hunting? Have hors d'oeuvre with the president of Romania ?
I stay clear away, way out of my loser lifestyle...but I did get a ranch tour once when the old gentleman was in Mexico...saw a couple fine bucks and some trout the size of salmon. I bet Shrapnel buys the place when the old boy passes on.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
What's so sad about that photo? Asking because, to some, I and others here probably look like some version of the same. But, physical appearance has turned out to be a rather poor indicator of significance. What is the root of those comments about "sad"?
I doubt that CE is sad about his age and time of existence in general. He has made and lived an interesting and productive life - the wise folks know it's a cycle and he seems to have ridden and managed his aspect quite well. Maybe fortunate that it's such a cycle, otherwise some - - - - - -.
Clint Eastwood will always be one of the greats in my book. He had his own style. He always worked out and was active. It’s sad to see people go downhill. My grandfather made it to 102. At 100 he was still driving long distances. My grandmother was 12 years younger and when she died my grandpa went downhill. They call it Life!!
Saw an interview with him when he was in his 80's IIRC. One comment I remember went something like, "one good thing about getting older is you don't give a crap about anything".
Which has fortunately turned out to be true.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

My grandmother was 104 when she died as well.
She missed her friends.
I had a great aunt that made it until 104, she told me that when she prayed every night from about 99 years old on that she asked to go peacefully in her sleep.
She outlived her husband, friends and 3 of her kids.
She was a great lady that enjoyed good health but in a way I felt bad for her in her later years.

I, for one, didn't say "sad".
For me, watching the folks we remember as a certain way, because we have watched them so long... since they were young themselves, pushes our own faces in front of the mirror to see our own old age and mortality.
For one, I do feel sadness when we loose someone like Clint or Gene. It's like part of what we know is gone as well. John Wayne comes to mind. Glad those 3 guys made lots of movies to enjoy when we feel like it.
My best friend groaning up mother lived to over a hundred. I asked what she thought about it. Her answer was (Don’t live this long). Must say I agree with her. Edk

Seeing pics of Clint and Gene, I see imagine in my head instead of their younger days on Screen.
With Clint, I see him standing there in Dirty Harry, holding that 44 Mag, pointing it at a criminals head with that iconic Statement " Good Ahead! Make my Day!"
When you were really cool, then you don't get old, you just slowly fade away in Glory.
Both Clint and Gene, those are two guys that they broke the mold on.... those two guys will always be both YOUNG and GREAT in my head. You don't see any actors I can think of today, that have anywhere near the cool factor those two gentlemen brought to the stage.

At one point I thought it would be cool to live to be 100 years old. Having watched several relatives well into their 90's... At this point, I will try my best to be ready when the Good Lord say it is my day... Until then, still kicking. Maybe not so high. But still kicking...

A young man who works at the local pawn/gun shop told me he intends to live over a hundred, and he's telling me how he's going to accomplish it by eating right, etc.. I told him it's not that great being 60, let alone 100.

Duvall, although I like him, never did have the "X or IT Factor" that Clint had, I am not sure anyone else has had, like Clint.
I saw Clint on a late night show about 20 years ago. He said people were asking him when he was going to make another Dirty Harry movie. He said what do they expect him to do, chase someone with a walker. I liked the way he accepted his age in movies.
Clint will be 04 next month. One day I realize the Clint was born in May of 1930, Sean Connery was born in August of 1930 and my Dad was born in Sept of 1930. I thought wow my Dad is the same age as Dirty Harry and James Bond.
I can only hope I'm in that shape if I live that long! Well done Mr. Eastwood!!
When one of my buddies complains about health or age I remind em, "The first hundred years are the hardest!" The second are gonna be restful...
I have to look in the mirror and remind myself how much I've changed since the 1970s too.

I saw that photo posted elsewhere earlier today with no caption. I thought it was Bruce Dern. He has really aged since the last photo I saw of him.
Clint has always been a favorite of mine. The Mule was one of his most recent movies. Not his best but most of it was filmed locally and it was pretty cool seeing local locations on the big screen.
I was interesting how they used locations for other things. Early in the movie is supposedly walking into a hotel lobby while a valet parks his truck. He is actually going in the front door of a local hospital. The next scene shows him coming through the door from the inside and walking down a hallway. That is actually our Civic Center.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
I am just happy he was born in Canada! Most people don't know that.
According to imdb.com, Eastwood was born in San Francisco, 1930.
I met him a couple of times at Warner Bros. His company, Malpaso, is headquartered there. Very friendly and has great stage presence. Yes, he's very cool. I wish him well.

When my Dad went at 86, he had outlived all his WWII comrades in arms. He was the last one left. I think he also just got tired of the health problems and being in pain all the time.

My only question for you is why do you post that picture of your daughter in your signature, did she give you her consent? 🤣😂🤣
That's NeverOutDoor's daughter with the cue stick? She's locked-up in the basement? I knew somethin was not right....... never leaving the house and all.

Ya SupFoo, he's a world-classless troll. As I said I'm a betting he is as ugly as ugly gets, I am also betting he is so ugly that he never will post a recent picture of himself.
I will also bet he is a low down dirty Biden operative!

Hell of a thing...how we treat our old people.
Work your whole damn life...lose all your friends...get to where you shìt your pants, can't get around, hurt all the time, can't see, can't hear, can't drive or do anything you used to like to do.....and then you get stuffed into an expensive old people warehouse where you get the absolute worst care 10,000 a month can buy you.

Correct, Barry - you did not even hint at sadness - simply made a keen observation. Yes, that does put up a mirror for some of us, and I sure agree about the sense of loss when a significant person leaves us.

That’s a sad reality . Poor countries treat their elderly better than we do. We must do better!
