Quit telling people that. It used to take 6 months to get a rifle from Mark - now it's over a year

What kind of money is Penrod charging for a model 70 build like the above? My guess it's a 'If you have to ask...' proposition.

What kind of money is Penrod charging for a model 70 build like the above? $5000 for everything. You can email or talk to him about price. In my opinion it was money well spent!

EDM,Thanks for sharing that information.- I dont feel its a matter of "if you have to ask", I dont see shame in asking... Id rather find the ballpark answer to a simple enquiry here, than bothering Mr.penrod without being ready to go forward with such a project. I now know I can afford such , just a matter now of if thats what I want & If MrPenrod is willing to build it.

For the price of a half dozen or so ho hum factory rifles you can have real custom.' I actually thought he would be higher.

I have a semi-custom from Mark that I could not be happier with. It is my "wanna be" Pre 64 Winchester Model 70.
For years I had read about the Pre 64's. Being left handed, that was not an option. I spoke to Mark a couple of years ago, and wanted to make a standard M70 special.
We discussed it, and I found a NIB M70 Sporter, left hand .270Win.
The gun was sent to Mark and he performed his metal magic. All components are original with exception of the bottom metal and extractor The following work was completed by Mark:
The gun was reblued in a velvet finish. Built up and checkered bolt release installed. 2 Piece bottom metal replaced with Williams. William extractor finished to allow single cartridge loading. Ejection port leveled. Factory Sporter stock pillar/glass bedded. Talley bases and rings deburred and finished to velvet blue. Receiver drilled for 8X40 screws. Trigger repinned, polished, and smoothed. Saftey polished and retimed. Receiver and Bolt polished for smoother operation.
With the help of the Campfire, I finished the wood stock in oil and it looks very nice. The original black recoil pad was kept.
Now, I have a great M70 that is as close to a Pre64 as a lefty can get.
When I get a chance, I will try to post some pictures.
And, Marks work is excellent.
I will add that in working with Mark, he prefers a phone call. He feels that a 5 minute call can accomplish much more that a dozen e-mails back and forth.

Sounds like a nice rifle that should last for years!!. How does she shoot? Looking forward to your pics if you get a chance. Also, how did you finish the stock?
