The 7-08's superiority is hardly secreted, nor is your stupidity, gross incompetence and outright lies, which are feverishly frosted copiously with bullshitt. You "know" just enough to reliably paint yourself into a corner.
Have I made shots with a 7-08,that I wouldn't with a 308? Sure, lots of them. Residual velocity, ability to slip atmospheric conditions,Precision and gross familiarity are tough to trump in the flesh. Ele correction isn't the deal breaker all the time.
The only things you've killed, have been in your many Dreams, thus your wellfounded trepidation to wax eloquently in retrospect,of deeds done via any of the chamberings cited.

Sorta an awkward silence now, after you were bent on running your mouth and more than hinting that you had some actual field experience with the three chamberings you cited?!!?
Now you are down to copy/paste mode,to preclude adding more gas to the fire...as if chronic exhibition of your delusions are a salve of some sort. Interesting approach,to be sure.
Let's see a picture of ANYTHING you've killed with your beloved 308 or 358,that oughtta be funnier than hell.

JeffDilldO,
C'mon...you surely killed a Squirrel or SOMETHING?!!? You know, something you didn't shoot all the way through,or half the way through, but just "energied" to death?

Wow.
Wheels are comin' off the cart for ya, huh?
My point was, is, and will be that there ain't no practical diff between the two.
You can ride your 162-gn AMax (or whatever it is)as hard as you want, but the fact was, is, and will be that the whole logical basis for your position, and that's being generous, is stupid. Nobody is worried about how the 7mm-08 stacks up against the .308 for hunting at extreme range. That ain't the question. You seem too dumb to realize that, or too dug into your position.
So tell us again how a little more energy at extreme range, a few inches less drop at extreme range, a little more wind-bucking at extreme range, matters one bit in normal hunting?
Cause I'm not debating that those things are not TRUE; you are correct about their existance. But the truly hilarious thing is- WE ALL KNOW THAT ALREADY! AND WE DON'T GIVE A [bleep], CAUSE THEY DON'T MATTER FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES!
"What is the sound of one guy ranting about his 7mm-08 at extreme ranges?"... Laffin'...

Ran some numbers, just for you.
Let's go backwards. Explain to us how the 125 ft/lbs or so of energy that the 7-08 with a 162 AMax will carry at 600 yards, over the .308, matters one bit to the critter being shot.
Or if you'd rather, how the 14.3 MOA drop is so different than the 15.6 MOA drop... given rangefinders and turrets and reticles and so on.
Or... you get the idea. Maybe you don't. Shouldn't assume, with you.
When you get done with that, explain why in hell a guy would be hunting at 600 yards or farther with a 7mm-08 (or .308), anyway.
The CENTER will hold.

The 7-08 is a .308 cartridge necked down to 7mm. How is it really superior overall to the .308??? That's like saying, "I've made shots with a .280 that a .30-06 would not have connected on." If I had to choose between a 7-08 and .308, one will do slightly better than the other, depending on the situation. A big bull elk at 75 yards? Either cartridge will kill the animal, I would go with maybe a 180 partition or something like that in the .308. A mule deer at 400 yards? I would think a good 140 from the 7-08 would be nice, not that the .308 would not do fine too. Both cartridges can drop a deer at 30 yards or a huge bull elk past 300. So can plenty of other cartridges. It depends on the application. Extreme long-range hunting? The 7-08 would be the better of two inappropriate cartridges IMO. The difference between .308" and .284" is not very much anyway. I shoot a .30-06 and really, what can the 7RM do in 98% of hunting that the '06 cannot? The '06 has killed every big game species on this continent, just as the 7RM probably has. Deer way out yonder, the big 7 wins. Big bison at a hundred steps, the old 30 offers big hunks of metal that the 7 just can't drive. JMO. If I put a heavy solid bullet in the right place on an elephant with a .308, it would probably die. (Not recommending it). I would choose it over the 7-08 in that situation...but I want a .260 for real-world hunting when my .30-06 is more than I need to use.

JeffDilldO,
What's the nearest and farthest you've ever killed anything with a 7-08,308 or 358?
What rangefinder do you use and what glass/reticle/turret? SFP or FFP? Are you trying to infer that you use any of these things? Be careful.
In your "vast" experience, what do you deem as minimum impact velocity/"energy" to effectively crunch a Buck, under the assumption of nice placement and of the non-CNS type?
Mebbe phone a few friends on this one and burn a lifeline or two, because you're gonna need it.
Never did catch what you've killed with any of the chamberings?

Because the BULLET matters more than the headstamp. Always has, always will.
Of course the '06 cain't hang with the 280,because it is the same BULLET comparisons.(hint) The 7Remmie blows the doors off the poor '06. Because in conjunction with thesuperior bullets, more case capacity is added to the extrapolation. Win/win and of .284 flavor.
The 7x57 Mouser has killed more Elephant than the 30-06. For starters.
Necking the suck out of a 308 hull is never a bad call.

Leica LRF1200 (also owned a Leupold and Nikon rangefinder, both sold to Campfire members). Boone&Crocket in two 2.5x8's; Rapid-Z 600 in a Zeiss 3.5x10; 3 different kinds of turrets on various Leupolds; For grins, here's a pic of my .358 doing some long range shootin' the other day, not that I'm saying it's a better long range rifle than a 7-08 or .308, 'cause it ain't. That's not the point here, but here's the funny thing- you don't even realize that. TFF.

Nice Stoney Point, love the objective cover nearly as much as the J-lock. B&C reticles, now there's a joke!
Of course the 358 can't hang, that has been a given since inception.
Still silent in the Critter Department and you ain't doing that on accident.
