Art, you're a group-think, dumb-azz of the highest order... that's always been apparent.

Jeff, why don't you go somewhere and sit on your hands for a bit?

Brad can speak for himself, but what's on trial here is your behavior, Art.

I'll only say that in a previous job I had the opportunity to observe and coach many shooters. I am by no means an expert but I would venture to say that Jeff's offhand shooting position could use some correction.
I understand what Brad is stating about chest size/individual build and flexibility. But I don't think it is relevant here.

I'm not saying my shooting position is good.
I'm saying it's mine, and it works fine for me. I'm not trying to win form points... Or the Olympics.
Art, would you please post a photo of yourself, in your standing offhand position?

Video of you shooting the .358 in that position, off-hand of course, would probably quell all the naysayers.

Yet you still keep coming back for more. Take Brad's advice and chill. You're akin to the one stinkin' mosquito in the room after the lights have been turned out.

Now, I'm not trying to be an ass, but what about shooting from prone? A guy would have to be pretty flexible in the neck to keep away from that scope. Am I missing something?

Well, now we are waiting for TryMe to 'Post his load', and Art to 'post a photo' Jeff, some of the guys who have commented about your stance in your photo know a lot more than me. I only coach (mainly shotgun) a bit. You might THINK that you can shoot OK, but if you took notice of some of their comments, perhaps you might go from an OK shot to a REAL GOOD shot. But for the moment you are (as usual) in denial mode - you know best and everyone is picking on you. That's par for your course.

A example that could be applied here is baseball hitters. You see many different starting stances. However, when they get to the point of placing wood on hide the similarities of body position are strikingly the same. Hips turned, shoulder square, hands accelerating, power coming off the back foot, etc. The classic consistent hitters don't waste time and effort getting there.
Hell I have never seen Jeff or anyone else here mount a rifle so what do I know about any specific individual. However, one thing I do know is that efficient use of your equipment and body usually makes things easier.
I have a hard enough time being a solid field shooter, that handicapping myself is not an choice that I willingly accept. If others do it's fine by me.
Jeff, there is no way you can repeat that position quickly following recoil, even if it does work for the first shot. Not meaning to slam, but some of us know a little also.

You may be right- for you. It's not a problem, for me. I have my problems, like most of us I would think, with shooting. I'm far from perfect. But getting hit by the scope isn't one oif them. There really is a clue to this, if you'll just do the thought experiment I typed earlier. A rifle is coming up, and back, is it not? Do the math. If not getting hit is your #1 priority, I humbly submit that the absolute last thing you want to be doing is mounting your scope far forward, then crawling the stock to get a full picture, no black so to speak. At any rate, I'm not selling anybody anything. I got attacked by Art and others, this is just defense, not offense. If the way I shoot won't work for you, that's cool by me! I've tried it both ways, and simply prefer a relaxed, natural, consistant head position, and to not crawl the stock to chase the image at full power.
