I picked up a New Haven M70 compact yesterday. Nice condition, walnut/blued number. In .308. Wanted one for a long time.

Oh, I've had a few here and there. Never one of these. I like these little compacts. Nice to carry, nice to the shoulder.

I have a push feed M70 lightweight carbine in .308. Great handling rifle, sweet trigger, adequate accuracy.

I bought a 7-08 compact a couple of months ago. Still in rotation, haven't fired it yet. Gonna order some Talleys one day.

This one is from WI alright. Sweet little tasco 3x9x40 on that little gun, and of course aluminum weaver mounts and rings. I'm suprised it doesn't have see-thru's on it, sights or not.

That is the first thing that will be fixed.

I have piles of those things...pulled off nearly every used 760/7600 I've ever bought.

No sights on this one, but it wouldn't have suprised me to see 'em on there anyway. laugh

Nice lookin' gun Ingwe! Mine is CRF, with no sights. Don't know why, but I like sights on a gun...even if I can't see the damn things with my bad eyes.

Ingwe,

That Mod 70 doesn't look standard issue. Did you shorten the barrel? add sights? add an ebony tip? what else have you done to it?

Those walnut-stocked 70's are pretty. My chance at a 70 was a 1985 era 'Ranger'. Hardwood stock that doesn't look like birch: has a nice grain but yellowish. Nice pad, floorplate, .270, push feed, sights. Shoots well. I love it except for the stock, which I can live with. Cost me so little. Lots of guys don't want Rangers...but they are still M70's at heart.
