thanks for the info on the new Marlin Boltgun. Iam looking into purchasing a synthetic stocked 270 it was either going to be a Stevens, or one of the Mossbergs. This rifle will be a gift to my best friend of alomost 20 years, he is like a brother to me and has always wanted a 270 but getting him to part with money is like getting a preacher to buy a hooker. So I have set a budget of 500 bucks and I think I can make this as my dealer is usually well under MSRP. I have a Stevens in 300 WIn Mag that I love, I did replace the trigger and had the metalwork ceracoated but am incredibly pleased with with Federal 180 Grain TSX loads. out of it. but i will look at the Marlin closer. One thing he will not get is my pet MkV ultralightweight 270WIn, lol

these guns will shoot! my XL7C 270 shoots 1/2 inch or less, sometimes much less with its favorite handload. this rifle is out of the box stock and will outshoot guns costing 2 or 3 times as much! it has fast become a favorite of mine and i have lots of choices!

Yep it's true. My XL-7 .30-06 shoots just like that. Gun cost about $300 at Gander Mountain. These guns will really shoot. Great trigger too. Mine wears a 3 x 9 Leupold. I haven't heard much bad said about them. BT

Anyone know if the barrel threads are the same size as a Savage? FWIW, oldman1942 (or a very similar name) states that they are the same and that he's swapped a 22-250 savage barrel onto his Marline.
