Already did, told her about a wonderful place chalk full of bruins in the Scapegoat the two of you could backpack into and have a couple fine days of togetherness... smile

Well, I ain't from Big Sky country, though I am jonesin' a bit to try and make a trip out west. I know the weather is pretty unpredictable out there, but would the first two weeks of May be worth trying to make a trip?

I'll be in Montana hunting bears starting 19 May. I'm leaning forward in my foxhole in anticipation. Can't wait to be there.

I'm winding up Mark. I've been doing some climbing to keep my mind off it, but come April I'll have a one track mind.

Think middle two weeks Scorpion. If your coming out let me know.

Me too. Fall bear hunting really sucks here in CO.

Any suggestions for an out of stater bear hunt in Montana?

So far it's looking like we are going to have an early spring up here, unless winter happens fierce here in Feb.. But, I was looking at green grass on the side of the road yesterday and my wheels were turning.

I can look up and see brown grass in the alpine right now.. Our rivers are going to be very low this summer unless we get some snow up there. But, we might have a very early bear season...

Scorp, no one quite answered your post...so I will....chances are that first 2 weeks of May is NOT a good time...still not greened up in most places.
Also, spring regulations changed a few years ago, and in many places, it will already be closed after that....check the regs!, but usually, if you can hunt the last two weeks in may, prefferably the last one...you'd be golden!

I'll be headed to the Idaho Panhandle for bears the last week in May. Was just talking to a couple buddies and making plans for the trip yesterday. May cannot get here soon enough!

Scorpion, I see you question was answered, but pay close attention as there is a chance that the spring bear season may be extended for 2 weeks in some districts. At our local FWP comment meeting last week, reaction was favorable to it. mtmuley
