To answer your question, duracoat isn't even in the same ballpark as cerakote.

KG is a darn good coating. Doesn't wear as good as cerakote but, is more user friendly (no mixing and flashes instantly when applied correctly). It goes on thin and looks just as good IMO. Also, very chemical resistant like cerakote, (duracoat is not).
Prep is the same for both KG and cerakote. The downside to KG for the guy that wants to do his own, is the baking temp for KG is even higher than cerakote (325*F to 350 vs. 250*F).
If there was no cerakote, KG would be my choice but, as already stated you just can't beat the durability of cerakote.
