A black bear taken in Sepember above the South Nahanni River in Canada's Northwest Territories. This area had the heaviest concentration of grizzly bears I've ever seen....from the banks of the river in one evening we glassed and counted 8 mature boar grizzly bears working berries on the side slopes of the Ragged Range.

Bet that made the black bears nervous grin

I hunted in the Kuskokwim (sp?) range in Alaska, lots of both kind of bears, tried sneaking up to calling distance to a black bear and calling him...he lit out of there like his hair was on fire! shocked

Didn't think of it till later, but in that neighborhood, unlike alot of MT, he wasn't at the top of the food chain... wink

Another fall bruin that came to the call, client from Oklahoma, not the fella in the pio with me. That guys one of my best friends and mentor in life and one of the best hunters/riflemaan I've ever been around. I had the privaledge to guide with him in Montana and in Sonora. The client took him with his 7 rem and a 160 Nozler.

6 foot square range, a bit over 300 lbs if I recall right and his beaner was 19 or close, would have to check my notes. Anyway one looks at it he's a good bruin.

Ingwe - How big was that MT bear? This thread is making me twitch...

Got a call from the taxidermist a couple of days ago. My best black bear to date should arrive within the week. He confirmed that it squared seven feet and will make the book. Can't wait!

I'd post a photo but haven't used Photobucket in months. Account inactive. I saw a lot of references in here to folks getting 'puter viruses from the site?
