Wall space is maxed out.
I wonder if you have a similar problem with all your African trophies? Dat would be an understatement.....its pretty "busy" in my house... Ingwe

Between Dober, Ingwe, scenarshooter, and Greenhorn, I almost feel sorry for the bears in MT...almost. Great pics guys!!! Just a question, about when do you guys have the most luck? I'm thinking of trying either ID or MT this spring, but work obligations the first two weeks of May have me tied up. Would later in may, very early June be too late?

What do you guys do with all the hides that you don't want? Can you sell them? I am guessing that you don't have all them tanned/mounted. Dink

Wow--this thread is an eye opener. I never knew there was something worth hunting in May.
Can you guys describe the "calling them in" part? similar to coyotes?
I'd like to try this in couple years. Is it a hunt that a 14/15 year old could handle?

I'd like to try this in couple years. Is it a hunt that a 14/15 year old could handle? Calling them is not like calling coyotes, and no I wouldnt take a 14/15 year old, especially if calling... Dober could sure tell you more but my experience calling bears is this...you need to spot them first, cold calling is not so productive, make sure theres no obstacles between you( creeks, fences etc) and blow the Carltons call exactly as instructed.... If the bear comes, he will be coming in with the intention of killing something...it really lights them up. On the good news side if it is a sow with cubs, she will immediately take care of the cubs by sending them up a tree or the like...you will know she has cubs in the first few seconds...instead of waiting to find out...then you can get off the call and retreat. Take note of Dobers biggest bear...range six feet..... And I have had them almost literally climb on me....it is the MOST exciting way to hunt black bear.. Ingwe

They definitely don't always come charging. I've had them come to a call slow and cautiosly. I called for almost 30 minutes with this one. I noticed him sitting on his rump watching me from about 75 yards. I was cold calling in the timber in the Bridger mtns.

Interesting.....Ive had them sit on their hunkers like a big dog and look around, occasionally looking at me, but never make a move...but in those instances there was always an obstacle in the way..... Others came in so fast it was scary! You using the Carlton's Bear Call or a Varmint call??? Ingwe

Sweet Jesus there's some nice bears on this thread. I'm gonna have to find some place to do a spring hunt, otherwise it's gonna be a long pull until fall.

Yeah, apparently west or north! Our NH bears have nothin' on what's being shown either.
