The only reason the R&D's are so close today is that the majority of American voters seeks out revenge on their neighbor and look for the "what will the guy do for me", by elected and bureaucratic theft.
That's all fine and dandy, but the simple fact that enough people have pulled the lever for the I.R.S, for Federal expansion (namely from one party) to the point the other party couldn't win jack for 45 years speaks volumes.
So the other party had to join, or lose.....Check it out if you doubt.
