people are getting fed up in this country, and contrary to what JO may say, it is not just a few 'right wingers' that are fed up, a lot of middle of the road folks are waking, also.

Be that as it may, it's the right wing talking about taking up arms and subverting democracy. As evidenced by this thread.

I'd like to recap a bit. My ugly spat with Seafire kind of derailed things.

The reason I came to this thread, and took a stand, is because I believe very strongly in the structure of this country. It works about as well as can be hoped for, in a lurching, over-compensating way, to correct mistakes and so on. So in my view, if Obama is a mistake, it's a mistake we the people can correct- peacefully, at the polls, and starting in just a few short months.

And if enough people believe he is, then that will happen. If they don't, it won't. If they don't, that may horn up the folks that don't like him but this is a democracy. This is not El Salvador, with political death squads. This is not Rwanda, where one segment of the population wipes out the other. This is America, damn it!

So that is my issue with the original thrust of this thread. It was a call to arms to subvert democracy.

Within that context, and at the time that he said it, Seafire's comment was kind of the apex of the "kill the opposition" opinions being voiced here. Others were alluding, he just flat said it. Do I really think he's going to shoot hippies in cold blood, absent the rule of law? Nah, I don't. I think he's a decent sort who said a [bleep] up thing in the heat of the moment. But make no mistake- it was a [bleep] up, un-American thing to say. In my opinion. And so it suited me to use his statement as an illustration of how very wrong it is to be thinking in terms of taking up arms against people with different political views. And I think he and I, uh, "explored" the topic and it's logical consequences fairly thoroughly, and I was willing to do that, even though it may have cost me some friends (hi Tim!) because that's how important I think it is to stand up and say: dude! That is [bleep] UP!

Seafire, I have no beef with you, not in real life. Not unless you actually did start shooting unarmed people for political reasons, and you ain't gonna. Agent Barkoff, no matter what tortures you are subjected to, do not reveal the neo-Patriot tactics discussed amongst the various members. As you are aware some of the more dedicated Patriots have promoted the idea of not completely filling out their census forms. Some, dare I say, have even advocated not turning them in at all. Be strong, no matter what happens, at least your family will have health insurance. Unfortunately, under provision 118cr_fl1626, "when the fat lady sings", found on page 2,118 of the new health care plan, you will not be eligible for coverage.

Attempting to teach folks smarter than you how to drive nails with a hammer at the Sheltered Workshop. Success there was varied but greater than here. I don't think you'd fare well there. When I was growing up, in Arkansas they locked folks like you in the root cellar, lest you harm or influence the other kids or even hurt yourself.

Fact is, this thread has gone from a call to political violence, to a call for political action. That is in small part because I and a few others were willing to take the heat. Wanna know why I am willing to take that heat?

But I take it with a grain of salt. Most of these people are the same ones who say they're willing to fight to take our country back but would wet their pants if Bush Jr could run for another term in 2012.

I think it's been shown here as well as any Dem forum you go to, no matter what call to arms you might hear, in the end 95% of people only care if the Red Team or Blue Team is in power. The rest is chest pumping and BS.

Sometimes folks have to live with what they've done on all counts too.

I can't speak for others here, but I personally don't hate you. Other than resenting the fact that large blocks of people in your area of the country and others like yours, dictate what the folks in my own area can or can't do, I don't think much of you one way or the other.
