Looking to hear about what stock you have, if anyone has their rifle weight in a short action, round sporter bbl.

I purchased a Sako 75 Hunter for my 75 SM action rifle. The rifle as it left the factory was a Grey Wolf and it weighed 8lbs. The McMillan stock brought it's weight down to 7lbs 4 ounce which was nice and the gun felt much more lively.

That's what I was looking for, thanks much for the info. The GW stocks are heavy being a laminate. I wonder how much it might lighten up if 'bored out' as some do to the butt section.

I have the newest version of the 85 Finnlight with DuraTouch synthetic stock. The gun weighs 7.2 pounds with Swarovski 3-10x42 mounted, Talley mounts & loaded magazine.

I have considered an Edge but can't justify the price as long as the factory stock is working good for me and I really like it. I didn't think I would. THe stock weighs 29 ounces.

That was my first thought but then I was concerned about it being unbalanced weight forward . I am sure as beefy as that stock is that you could save some oz's. I doubt it would be as light as the Mcmillan unless you creatively carved some wood away on the foreend and buttstock to balance things out. IMHO it would not feel as nice. You should try the Mcmillan , you will throw the GW stock in the garbage ................Only Kidding

Yea, I hear the 85's are a bit lighter and the edge might save 4 ounces if that in that type of application. 543 dollars is a bit expensive for 4 ounces.

My 75 finnlight with an EDGE is 7lbs even, with optilocks and a VXIII 2.5-8. Recently picked up an 85 in .260 and have an EDGE coming for it as well...

Sounds like a Finnlight and a McM is a nice combo all scoped up. Son's 75 round sporter needs a diet, though it shoots great and feels great w/GW stock.

My 85 SA Finnlight rests in a Sako Classic Edge. Don't know the weight, but it's still not light like the Montanas. Had McMillan glass and pillar bed mine. Hell of a shooter!!

OCC, Montana's are as light as I could ever want, perhaps too light but I have not handled one scoped.

Cliff you know they are no lw rifles. But come on it's a sako what more could you want?

Here's my custom .300 Win Mag built on a Sako 75 action & a McMillan Sako 75 stock.

Just looking out for my 12 yr old.....not wanting a fly weight rifle, just lighter ML that's all Agree w/you they really do shoot well, never had a bad one.

I have an edge on my Hunter in 6 BR, with straight taper barrel and Leupold: 4.5-14 x 40mm LR that weighs 9 lbs 6oz a#4 fluted lilja on 257AI with classic Sako McSwirly that weight 9 lbs even

I think the Finnlight with an Edge would be an idea package.

Wish it was, but its the sporter model. I picked it up in a trade...

Sako 75, originally a Finnlite.... in 7-08, and remains 7-08 with a few extras





and it works just fine.

Yes it is a NEAR rail, with Rechnagel rings 30mm for the S & B Zenith. I have a set of NEAR rings and Rail on a Tikka 595 in .260.... Which is also a great set up.

Thanks... and yes I am pleased with the way the rehab turned out. The bolt was fluted by a company over here in UK, Custom Precision Rifles in Nottingham, the rebuild was done by Neil McKillop, a man who has gained a well deserved reputation for fine quality rifles.

The difficulty over here is nearly always the sourcing of custom parts, barrels, triggers, actions, etc. but that is being resolved by efforts to produce them in UK/Europe since the export restrictions came into force.

Hence I have LW barrels on this Sako , a Tikka 595 in .260, a Lawton 7000 in 6.5x55 and a Tikka 695 which is being built at present in 275 Rigby ( 7x57 Mauser). LW are reasonably priced over here, good delivery times : 4 - 6 weeks and IMHO good quality.
