I don't use any, I think it's mostly marketing and snake oil.

Been using a quart of TCW3 two stroke oil per tank. The only additive I have come accross that makes a noticable difference. I have uses the Power Service anti-gell in winter.

I do to, I use the super tech brand 2-stroke from Wal Mart. If you use 2-stroke it has to be the TCW3 ashless formula as mentiond by LongRanger. I use 1 ounce per gallon for lubricity unless I can find B2 whivh is a 2% biodiesel blend and that has been shown to provide the most lubricity of anything on the market.

The guys over on thedieselgarage.com pretty much like opti-lube. http://www.opti-lube.com/ I have used it and really like it as well. It does give me a little better mileage when towing the Ranger Z-21. There was a paper written up on different lubes and it showed the opti-lube to be the best.

I just use plain ol regular gasoline...........cause I got rid of my diesel.

you might regret that if you intend to pull around an offshore boat.... wink Rack storage is great (BTDT), until you either need or want to upgrade or repair engines, drives, tunes, interior, steering, blowers, exhaust, ............. grin

I've decided not to get that 40 footer.

Right now I'm looking at a 24' Baja bowrider with a 496......a bit more of a family boat.

When they get older I will get my big ride.

not a bad idea- we have ski boats here and in Canada and a cruiser for the Mississippi River right now- we took the 5-year-old out for a ride with a friend on a Top Gun on Lake M and she didn't like the noise and the speed all that well. She'll have the need for speed in due time. We're taking a short break, but we'll have another, most likely another Thunder or Cig. I think you'd do fine with the Baja- I've never owned one, but the folks that I know that own them seem to like them. Too bad they went under- Fountain has the rights to them, but no firm plans for reproduction as of yet.

near as in what? lubricity capability? Using a high-quality ashless TCW3 2-stroke oil will help replace the lubricity lost with ULSD, but as mentioned before and in the study, biodiesel is one of the best. I've used 2-stroke in the 7.3PS diesels and TDI's I've owned, lots of towing miles on the Fords, both pre and post ULSD without any trouble at all. I've also used it as a lubricity additive when burning JET-A, both in the Fords and VW TDI.
One of the first places guys have seen problems with ULSD, at least with the Ford PowerStroke 7.3, is in the fuel filter bowl and drain 0-rings starting to leak/crack.

I'm pretty sure they are referring to trucks that have all of the emissions crap on them and have to burn ULSD only. I've been using 2-stroke with great success for quite a while now but I drive a dodge with a 12 valve cummins.

As for lubricity, the number one thing you can put in your vehicle is B2 if you can find it. Be prepared to change a fuel filter though if you haven't done it in a while, that bio diesel seems to clean out the tank and fuel system

We don't have bio diesel, so I put a quart of two stroke oil in every once in awhile. My 06 is pre smog crap, so no problem running the two stroke oil.

I'm partial to changing out the fuel filters more frequently than the vehicle maintenance schedule calls for. Cheap insurance!

Just curious, why use both? Cetane boost and anti-gel with Power Service and more lubricity with the 2 stroke? At 1oz/gal, why use more than the study recommends? Which 2 stroke oil do you use?

I just bought my first diesel pickup yesterday....2001 F250 CCSB 4WD with 7.3 PSD so I'm new to this stuff.
