Leave my Lyman on overnight all the time. Mine is a Lyman as well. I hate leaving anything running when I am not home. Dishwasher, Dryer, etc.. +1 I have been on hand a few times when electric motors have tanked which broke me on leaving one unattended.

Your only problem is that it will turn 30-06 brass into 223 brass.

Start my RCBS unit in the evening and let it run through the next day until I've gotten home from work and had dinner...

True, and if it weren't out of necessity I would kill the power before it entered the house everytime I left the house.

When I use mine it is always plugged into the GFCI. That should help in the case of motor failure, I would think. I would hope as soon as that happens it would trip the GFCI. Am I corect in my thinking or what?
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I leave mine running for two to three days.

Am I corect in my thinking or what? Probably better than not in a GFCI, but after watching a fan suddenly speed up about 10 seconds before seizing and popping out a few flaming bits and pieces once I wouldn't count on it.

A normal duty cycle for my Dillon is to load it after work, run it all night, reload it before work, run it all day.I run it on a concrete floor, and I don't like to run it if no is home.I have used the same tumbler for 15 years or more. Lightman

depends on the brass. If I'm polishing 30-06 service stuff I let it run that long or longer but to just clean up pistol cases, 3-4 hrs seems to work.
Many years ago my son got one of those plastic rock tumblers that are like an art project. Worked ok, but if a little works... you guess it, he tumbled a hole in it quickly!

My wife is absolutely phobic about leaving anything on when leaving the house, she will shut of the coffee maker to go water her flowers! After putting out a clothes drier that was on fire at my parents house, and the house would have been engulfed if the fire had gone on a few minutes longer, I have a greater appreciation for the hazards of unatended electrical devices. Not to mention my wife has put something on the burner on high, left for "just a minute" and managed to scorch something or other more than once. You're probably safe running your tumbler while you are out, but any 120v or higher device has the potential to burn down your house if it malfunctions.

I let mine run overnight just for the heck of it.
Just for practice.
I like doing dry runs with it. No brass, no media, no polishing compound, nothing ............................

My wife once turned the oven to self-clean just minutes before we left the house to go out of state on a trip.
I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't walked in front of the stove on the way out and felt the heat.
To this day, she thinks I overreacted.
