FWIW, I'm sure there many other great options, but I've had good luck with my 1.25-8x32mm Bushnell Elite 6500. I've fired over 250 rounds with it on my .375 Wby and it always keeps its zero. It has to have some of the clearest optics for the money.

Nice griz tracks... The Mk V ain't bad, either.

Mine is not a .375 H&H but close. It is a .375-.416 Rem. I put a 2 1/2 - 16X Bushnell in Burris Signature rings on mine. It gives over forty feet field of view on 2 1/2X and lots of maginfication on the other end.

I mean the rifle is already heavy so it doesn't make any difference.

I seldom take issue with Jorge, but I have used the 3X on cats and all manor or culling at night and without problems, it is very bright light gathering scope btw. I don't suppose the seas will part over this parting of ways with Jorge however! at least I hope not

Of course not! I will tell you this, in preparation for my leopard hunt I broke out lots of scopes including a 3X I had saved for a Custom project, Leupolds in 1.5x5 (both 1" and 30mm tube with ill reticle),1.75X6X32, 3.5X10X50 and 56 (both with ill reticles and German #4), Swarovski PH 1.75X6X42 and a Zeiss Diavari 3x9. For a target, I even painted a life sized deer bow target with blotches (that convinced my wife I needed help with my hunting and gun lunacy), place it in heavy foliage in my back yard at a distance of 70 yards and proceeded to test all the scopes at dusk and into darkness, then with a small red light rheostat at the target, just like they do in Zim. The three small objective Leupolds were abject failures. The Swaro was excellent but I felt the added X of the bigger leupolds coupled with the bigger objective gave me an edge so that is what I went with for both my rifles respectively. Would have loved a Swaro Z6, but at 2500 bucks, no way. Those big leupies sure are ugly but they work. Don't want you guys thinking I'm anal retentive or anytning...

I am using a 3-9x40 VXII on mine right now. Works fine for taking right off of my '06 and plopping it on. Eventually I will put something a little smaller on it ~ 2-7x32, or 1.75-5x32 (ish). Really, though it comes down to what you are putting it on and what you will be using it for.......

Thanks. It seems to work well for me, but I need to compare it more carefully (which I will try to do) before I give too much of a solid answer. I bought it for my ten-day hunt this September. I got a bear on day one in early afternoon. Aside from fishing, rafting, workign some on the pelt, etc ..., my hunting (for black bear and wolves) after that mostly was limited to glassing through my binos.

I will try to compare it to its larger cousin (below, 2.5-16x50mm) in low-light conditions around home and let you know.

That's the same scope I have on my .340 Wby pictured above. I actually tried to put a second one (I have on a third rifle) on the .375 Wby (pictured further above), but it wouldn't fit over the rear back-up sight. (I also was not looking to lighten those two rifles, as weight makes recoil more pleasant in those rifles). At the 2-1/2x setting, it gives a pretty quick view of close-up things. Not quite at good as the 1.25x setting on my smaller one, but remarkably good IMO. I obviously like that line of scopes for the money, as I have three of them.

Mostly I am opposed to big ugly scopes and rifle that are bulky and without balance for quickness..

One thing you can take to the bank with you is the 20 MM objective scopes are damn hard to knock our of zero and the bigger a scope objective is and the more scope that sticks out the front ring, the harder it is to keep sighted in on some tough hunts..Do you own tests on this, sight in a big 2.5x16 then wack the crap out of it with the palm of your hand and shoot another group. We see this all the time with big scopes on my booked hunts.

Thus my passion for the 3X, 1x4, 1.5x5 Leupolds, and my all time lovey 2.5 Leupold Alaskan on my Savage 99F saddle gun..Saddle scabbards and trotting horses are hell on scopes, mounts and the zero..

But to each his own and perhaps its a trade off, but I have not been disapointed in my choices of scopes..and yes, I have a couple of 2x7x33s and 3x9s on my varmint rifles. Still a 3x9 is is a small scope to some of the young guns out there.

1.5x5, Bushnell Scopechief, steel tube, 25 year old design, compact 32mm. Will not break on Leopuld quick detach bases.

1.75-6X Leupy with German No. 1 reticle on Ruger Tropical. Worked fine on two whitetail in deep dark woods last November. Think I had it on 3X.

my biesen built 375 wears an old redfield wideview in 2-7x........works good enough to throw down some sub moa groups.....not what I dream of forever, but it is paid for.

A 1x4 Trijicon on the 375 wouldn't suck.

I've got a plain ol' M8 4X on mine. Works just fine.

A pair of short tube Leupold 1.75-6x36s and a Leupold 1.5-5 on mine...

I really like the discontinued 1.75-6x36mm Leupolds....can be a bit challenging to mount but are noticeably brighter than the 32's....

A 2x7 leup. in a pair of Warne QD's if You got good irons.

My choice for 99% of bolt rifles.

I like a Leupold M8 3x on my Winchester Model 70 in 375 H&H. There's a certain rythym in saying the words "Winchester Model 70, 375 H&H." Makes it hard to contemplate selling that rifle...
