I have an old Remington 700 in 25-06. Cannot afford a good scope but it has done some tiny groups at 200 yards that would dial in an elk heart at 500 yards wit room to spare. Sounds like my old ADL, took one of my bosses up to the range years ago and was teaching him how to shoot, did all the reloading for him and while there at 300 Yards there was a small piece of paper left from when someone tore a target down, just held by a little staple, so took three shots and kept them all together on the paper, boss couldn't believe it, used to have the piece to show people that did not believe how accurate a rifle could be with the right loads, still have that rifle, still love punching holes in paper when I am not using for hunting, even shot in a competition with it, got me some trophies. It is a great rifle and caliber.

:)If scenarshooter's venue is too far from half way, I'm putting on my 11th annual precision long range rifle/ carbine match on 3-26-11 and 3-27-11. We have shots out to 1160+ yards, all field positions, movers, night shots out to 550-600 yards, a little hand gunning just to break things up. It is a team event with $1000.00 going to the top team, $500.00 to second and $200.00 to third. Prize table should top $10,000. Most shots are at steel. Some of this years shooters and RO's: A few shooters getting set for the 440 yard mover: A few of the rifles used by the carbine shooters:

I'll bring all of my egg shooters....everyone will be welcome to try them out. Most of them are GAP's, Surgeon's and a few are put together by gunsmith's I'm sure no one has ever heard of. I've got no dog in this fight but I'm curious to see how many will show up, roll up their sleeve's and get down to it.....its funny how eveyone on the internet is 6'4" and weighs 240.....grin! WOW!! What a collection. Wish I could find a way to your shoot and try some of those, could gain some knowledge.

1500 meters unranged.... thats interesting. Would have to be done with a scope with nothing but a straight crosshair in it, no other way to cheat ranging by mil type sizing.
Beyond that, its not realistic at all, no sane long range shooter would attempt a long shot without checking the range.
I'd love to play this, I'm out though, not in the cards of my life right now plus I'm so rusty I suck shooting wise lately. Missed a doe head due to a screw up on my wind guess the other week, measly 252 yards. Had the wind right... but then looked it over hard and decided that the ridge and trees blocked a fair amount of it... I was wrong, it was my first calc at full value... of couse the second berger put the brain on the ground and then she fell.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

If this shoot happens, JB's got more ba!!s than I expected. He's the only one with something to lose. People aren't going to line up to buy second best.
He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.

Join the club.... I muffed one at 206 yds... twice. I still don't know what I did wrong other than miss. Got me a little puzzled.

why you be needing something that big? All you need is a Remington 700 in 30-06 with corelokts and a blister pack scope to shoot as far as you need.... Best in the WORLD
