We have had informal no rangefinder matches at unknown distances....but you get to use ranging reticules and know the target sizes. That would be a crazy match with with no ranging reticules....kinda like ready set guess. Although, if you got a spotting shot it could be interesting. 1500 meters unranged.... thats interesting. Would have to be done with a scope with nothing but a straight crosshair in it, no other way to cheat ranging by mil type sizing.
Beyond that, its not realistic at all, no sane long range shooter would attempt a long shot without checking the range.
I'd love to play this, I'm out though, not in the cards of my life right now plus I'm so rusty I suck shooting wise lately. Missed a doe head due to a screw up on my wind guess the other week, measly 252 yards. Had the wind right... but then looked it over hard and decided that the ridge and trees blocked a fair amount of it... I was wrong, it was my first calc at full value... of couse the second berger put the brain on the ground and then she fell.

Not to get into a pissing match with you Jim but the info in your profile is sorely lacking. Scott F AKA Robert Fairing Compass Rose Farms 1463 West Uncas Rd Discovery Bay, WA 41 0 58.21 N 122 0 53' 29.73 W 360-301-9301 compassrosefarms gmail.com I am not ashamed of who I am. I have to say I had some real nice phone calls after I posted this today. Four guys I have never talked to before. It was fun.

One small area of advantage the bedding blocks hold over a straight synthetic is the aluminum block below the action will counter act the thermal expansion of the aluminum scope above the action.
Aluminum linear thermal expansion is 2 times more than the ferritic stainless steel commonly used in rifle actions. This will have an effect on your zero over a relatively large change in temp.
I knew there was a reason I liked that old steel tube Weaver!

Sometimes I come online here and see a certain thread and am reminded of a guy I saw once. 115v appliance connected to 220v, admire the smoke for a moment and find something else to do. Classic!

Wow 12 years ago? And now a question about a sarcastic response? The answer is yes, the Weaver name is still being used as a marketing tool for sport optics. https://www.weaveroptics.com/optics/

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

My money is on 'stick, no contest..... That would depend upon who Burns could wrangle to shoot for him by proxy.

If you are not one of his clients, it does not affect you......so why are you even interested in what he is doing? Capitalism at work. I would like to see those 2 square off at 500 yards. May the best shot win. kwg
