I forgot, my second car was a 64 Lemans 326 HO That I had to get more torque, so I pulled a 389 from a junkyard car and added a turbo 400 (1964 had the 2 speed auto's) and it would do a burnout through the upshift to third.

First was a 56 Chevy 1500 that we pulled the straight 6 for a 283...

Sorry Allen, I don't have a clue... car was gone in 30 days, repo'ed by mom.. just remember it had been taken out of something like a 63 Grand Prix.

the Airman who sold it had been fixing it up to race or drag or something... but got orders to Vietnam and had to get rid of it quick..

A very wealthy friend of the family, in 68 saw some of the model work I did, as I worked at the Smithsonian as a volunteer during High School, making model displays for them.
This guy always wanted a model of the USS Constitution to sit above the fireplace at his family's home in N. Carolina.

He bought a Revell kit of the Ship that was huge in 1960s and spendy.. no market for something like that nowadays. I spent 7 months building it and rigging it for him.

He actually paid some movers some big bucks to move it from Virginia back to his family home in N.Carolina. Bought a glass case to transport it and all.

He was always thankful for me building it. After mom relieved me of the keys to the Tempest, and stuck me with a VW, he came over to the house one day, with the keys to a new 1970 Camero SS with a 396 in it. Yellow with Black Stripes... Tells Mom that no self respecting kid can be caught driving a stupid VW.

The guy had actually gone out and bought me a darn car.. of course he was worth mega bucks, so it was no big deal to him.

Mom kaboshed that one also...Close but no cigar.. seems my life has taken that pattern... grumble grumble grumble... self pity mode on for the next 15 minutes.. grin

Kinda glad I never got rid of her.

I guess that would be my brother's '67 GT-500 with a medium riser 427. Shown here before he restored it. It was a beast.

That looks alot like my first car except mine has the SS badges, no chin spoiler, and no vinyl top.

The burnouts are particularly familiar........at least when I could afford the gas!

Bought this one in 1978, my senior year of HS.......still have it. It started life as a 327/powerglide......in 81, I bought all the parts out of a wrecked 69 and converted it to 4 speed.

Owned this one twice........when I bought it the second time, I built a rowdy 4V 351 cleveland and put in it........4 speed toploader, 9 inch rear with 4.11 gears.......it was fun!

Built this one too.......1984 ranger.....4 banger. Bought a totaled '84 Mustang GT with the 5.0 HO and 5 speed........rebuilt the motor and stuffed it into the truck.......it was a sleeper!! grin

My new play toy will be coming soon.

2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible; w/550 ponys; 6spd; red w/white stripe.

Thought about white w/blue stripe, but that looks like a Kotex pad...........LOL!

Of today's cars, right now, I like this one the best. Just got done setting up the Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram/Fiat/Ferrari/Maserati display in Detroit. I get to drool over hot cars and hot models all day during press week.....

The Blue/White combo may look like a NEW Kotex pad, but the Red/White combo looks like...... grin

Those are neat cars. I would have a hard time choosing between the two. I really like white stripes on muscle cars. I owned an orignal 1970 LS5 Chevelle bench seat 4 speed that was black with white stripes. I wish I still had it.

..........I`ll use it as an occasional freeway cruiser and for occasional trips. Won`t be a a day to day car.

0 to 60 in 4.3 seconds. Not quite as quick as the ZR Vettes, but the Vettes are more chlostrophobic to me on the inside. And I gotta have a back seat too.

With good weather and the top down, can`t wait to get that thing on the eastbound 40. Have friends in Texas.

She`ll be fun!

Lord! I promise to keep her below 80..... whistle

rrogers, you're right about the goats. Makes me feel guilty about wrecking the '66 I had with 389 tri power. Later got a '68 with the 400 and 4 speed that I didn't hurt but it didn't survive long after I sold it. Seemed the guy that bought it from me used it to break off a heavy power pole. Wish I had either one of those cars today.

The '05 Goat is turning 3500 at 140. Heady stuff. Gets 24 - 27mpg on the highway, around 18 - 20 in daily (not much traffic) driving. You may find you are driving it more than you plan to.

I think the 421 with the nascar heads were the Bonnivilles with aluminum front fenders and hood to go with the aluminum high flow heads.

I was a pontiac guy before 1999 when I bought my hemi car...
Something about being different, and hated by the cars that everyone has in mass quantity...

Interesting fact, my 70 Cuda is one of 488 440 cars, and they made about 200 with 4 speeds. The survival rate of these rare cars is surprising considering how many chevy and fords of the same year have been destroyed.

They did make quite a few Barracuda's, but no bigblock cars in that line.

I bought a 1965 GTO in 1971 when I was in High School. I always loved the car and never could get rid of it. I paid $1500.00 for it, I could have bought a red 1963 Corvette for $1300.00 at the time, I'm glad I didn't.

I remember driving by the Dodge Dealership in Bozeman, (Rolfe & Wood) and they had a lime green Superbird in the showroom. We would drive by and laugh at the ugly piece of crap, now I wish I had bought it too. I could sell it for many$$$ and still have the GTO and a pot full of money...
