LPB - On the first row of rifles what stock is on the far left one? Like 7-08 fan stated its a McMillan BDL
LBP - Also what is the length of the forearms on the compact and mountain rifle measuring from the center of with rear action screw?
Mtn 17.5"
Compact 18"

If the barrel isn't to big to fit I go Compact/Edge with everything now. Heavier barrel (hunting heavy not tact) with a Rem gets a Classic. Mt Rifle is a VERY close second choice behind the Compact/Edge.

Well, I hope you guys are right, since I ordered a Remington compact in standard fill with 50% forest green 50% white today. I was tempted to do an Edge fill, but the swirl just looks so dang cool and different. The stock is going on a remington left hand short action, so options were limited for what would work.

When I order my stock should I have Mcmillan install factory aluminum pillars or let my smith do that?

Really like the Remington Hunter. Really comfortable, but kinda beefy for anything less than a #5 barrel. For that reason, my next will be the McMillan Hunter.
John As it turns out, a #4 is kinda tight in a McMillan Hunter, so now I am torn between a BDL and Remington Hunter. Remington hunter is more comfortable, but BDL isn't quite as beefy through the forend. Decisions, decisions... John

Contour can skew things. I'd MR a #1 or less and once you get above a #4.5 or so,I'm in A5 mode..............
