If big enough, I keep them all. I either Crappie fish or cat fish and don't catch many fish other than those. An occasional drum or bass but those eat too. If I was intending to throw them back, I would not go. I have other things to do. miles
Look out for number 1, don't step in number 2.

GIVE A MAN A FISH, AND HE EATS FOR A DAY. Teach a man to fish, and he will throw up in your boat! A fellow in Iliamna said to me "didn't you mamma teach you not to play with your food?"

What release? There is no release.

I'm particularly fond of bass filet. Typically, I'll set my limit to keep on one at 17 inches depending on the lake's limit. First 17 incher I land, goes into the life well. All the others, regardless of size go back in. The one fish makes a nice dinner for my daughter and I.
Now, if we catch a bunch of bluegill, I'll keep 10 of filet size and everything else goes back in.

Catch & release into the hot cracklin grease. I don't get out very often. Walleye and sauger mainly, like pike also, just have to fillet the y-bones out.

We always throw all our lakers back, how do you make the tacos? we throw the big guys back. But the ax-handle sized lakers we keep. We fillet them, soak in milk, drop them in a corn meal/beer batter bath and fry them. Homemade slaw-- cabbage, sugar, apple cider vinegar, a little mayo, salt and pepper. Wrapped in a tortilla with some habanero hot sauce.......not bad.

If they are trout, throw 'em on the bank for the coons and possums to eat, too damned boney for humans to eat.
