You can't compare hurricanes. A 60 mile wide CAT 5 has very little in common with a 200 mile wide CAT 3.

My stepdad was a grunt in WWII, one of the replacements in France after D-day. He fought all the way to Germany. When the war was over, he'd had all the infantry he cared for and decided being an army cook beat the heck out of dragging a cotton sack in the S. Carolina sun. He had dozens of black cooks work for him through the years up until his retirement in 68. EVERY one of them talked about being raised by their granny. You do the math. Most of these kids were born way before the welfare state as we know it today.

The winds were significantly higher than that when it made landfall in Mississippi.

Not to mention the damage from the 28 ft. tidal surge that accompanied the storm.

In New Orleans, the flooding due to the breeched levees did most of the damage.

Glad to see someone found the REAL reason for all the problems in New Orleans. It was the Navy Seal team working for W who blew up the levees to punish the state of LA for being a blue state.
It had nothing to do with the idiot Senator, the moron Mayor, the corrupt police or the mobs of 5th generation welfare homies who cannot read, write, hold a job, and spend their short lives involved at drinking, smoking/selling crack and fornicating.

When's the last time you've been there? I can't speak of all of Japan, but as someone who has lived in Japan for several years, and has visited often, from the early 80s to present, things are *much* different than what they used to. 30 years ago, I would've agreed with you. Not entirely now, however. In the 90s the Japanese really began to embrace their individualism, and today it is much more prominent in society. Perfect example: school uniforms were required nationwide back in the day. Black uniforms for boys and blue tops with skirts for girls. Now, it is much less prevalent.

Glad to hear they are adopting "Western ways". Now we can look forward to open borders, millions of illegals sapping their economy, a collapse of manufacturing quality, outsourcing jobs to 3rd world countries, millions of children with no fathers and the building of Mosques on every corner. Maybe they can even get a Prime Minister from Africa..........
