Wish I could tell a little more about my elk kill with an Accubond, but I lost her. No recovery, no way to tell if the shot was bad or the bullet wasn't up to par. 130 Accubond, .264 Win.

Have only shot one elk with an Accubond. 180 gr from a 30-06 AI running 3000 fps @ the muzzle. Distance was 225 yds. Through and through right to left, nothing but lungs. The spike ran about a 25 yd circle, laid down and finally dropped his head about 4-5 minutes after being hit. In this rifle, both the AB and the BT hit to the same POI. My research indicated anything within about 250 yds should be hit with the AB to keep a BT from fragmenting too much; using a BT any further than that. Kind of wished I used the BT for a quicker DRT but not an ounce of meat was lost. Can't really complain though.

My Pre 64 M70 9.3x62 is loaded for grizzly, moose and elk with the 250 AB. Extremely accurate; many sub 1/2 MOA groups.

2010, using the .30-06/150g AccuBond load I developed for my nephews for their first big game (antelope) hunt.

Hit at the base of the neck on side shown in picture, 282 yards per the laser. No exit.

It was on the ground before I recovered from the recoil. Thought I had screwed the shot and was mentally preparing to track a wounded cow at dusk. Was very glad to find her DRT.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

2009 and 2010 with a 200gr AB from a 300RUM. 75 yards to the throat in 09 and 100 yards to the chest in 2010. No bullets recovered either time.

Nice bulls, Pat, but you obviously need to spend more time on the internet so you would know that you need a .375 H&H or at least a .338 Win to kill bulls like that. Not those little .30 caliber varmint rifles. laugh

Wasn't my cow but I was watching thru binos 6 ft. from the shooter.
Range= 150yds.
Caliber= 300WM 180gr. AB 2nds from the Shooter's pro shop (red tip made for Winchester). Reloaded to 3100fps with RL-22.
Shot= trotting quartering away.
Results= bullet entered thru left hip and exited between neck and right shoulder. Exit wound was about 1.5" diam. The smack of the bullet was the loudest I've ever heard, but it was a crisp morning and that may have been a factor. She made it about 10yds and fell into a nasty pile of brush (I think they do that on purpose just to get one last jab in)!
Final analysis= DEAD ELK! Performance and penetration was all we could ask for after traveling thru 4ft. of elk. No reason to change, but only a sample of 1.

Shot a 6x6 in AZ at 470 yards using a 180 grain AB out of a .300 Wby at 3100 fps. Very slight quartering away shot, took out the liver and far lung. Bull hunched up walked 30-40 yards and laid down. Closed the distance and put another in behind the shoulder. Both bullets exited, massive internal damage.

I've had excellent results with AB's - all of the below were 1 shot kills.

.270WSM and 140AB going 3175fps - 75 yard facing me chest shot on a 5x5 - penetrated full length and exited anus, didn't take another step.

.338RUM, 250AB going 3010fps - 425 yards broadside cow, tumbled downhill at impact, bullet recovered under far side hide.

.338RUM, 250AB going 3010fps - 210 yards broadside forked horn, dropped in tracks, no bullet recovered.

.338RUM, 250AB going 3010fps - 85 yards broadside lead cow, ran 5 yards and dropped dead. No bullet recovered.

The .338RUM with the 250AB is an elk hammer - it's almost not fair.

Broadside out of a 30-06 180 gr accubond, threw the boiler room, bullet found under the skin on the other side. My son shot it at 220 yards, cow elk, hit it there three times, because the elk just stood there, walked off 10 yards, layed down and died. Did I like the bullet, yes.
