Bull-Barrel. Looks to be in decent shape but not won't pass for new either.

The Mark I variations were never made in stainless in this configuration.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

Mark I 9-round mag. No hold open on last round
Mark II 10-round mag. stays open on last shot.
Mark III - Moved mag release next to trigger guard.
Whatcha got??

Well this has me puzzled then because it's stamped Mark 1 Right on the barrel. ???? I've seen the gun, so what gives? Possible to put a bb on a Mark 1 ? Ok, and this one holds open but it says mark 1. wow.. strange. Asking is $225.

Get the serial #. We can look up date of birth.

I won't argue if the OP sees with his eyes, Mark I, but I agree w/others that to my knowledge, I was unaware any SS model 1's were mfg.
Ruger might confirm what your serial numbered gun is...
If I didn't have a few myself, I'd spring for a MK2 SS 5.5 for $225.
Any chance it's been coated?

Maybe coated? Get serial number, go to the Ruger website. Go to FAQ, and you can get date of manufacture. Call Ruger and they will tell you in which configuration it left the factory.

Any chance it's been coated? I will argue and I'll call bullshit when I see it. If he's describing a version that's stainless steel and the bolt locks after the last shot, then he's describing a Mark II. Period. If he still believes he saw "Mark I" inscribed on the barrel or receiver in spite of this, then he either needs glasses or a clue.

The upper is the serial numbered component on the Ruger .22 autos.

Thanks for the help. Found this, think it answers my question, thought I'd share it just in case someone else stumbles onto one someday. Turns out they made 5000 of them in the end of 1981 to the beginning of 82. They were made to honor the end of the Mark I series. These had Bill Ruger's signature engraved on them. Going price is mid $300 range if they are near NIB. They were the first to have a red eagle in the grip. I see there was one that sold on Gun Runner and another is for sale on Guns America. Guess they're not that uncommon of a find.

Guess they're not that uncommon of a find. Turns out you don't know what in the f*ck you're talking about. This is what you posted initially: Bull-Barrel. Looks to be in decent shape but not won't pass for new either. The gun you just described does not have a bull barrel. The "Mark I" stainless versions -- and they're not actually Mark Is, Mark I was the adjustable sighted target version, the others were just the .22 Auto -- were all in standard configuration with fixed sights and a 4 3/4" barrel. There were no stainless Mark I target models -- the versions with the bull barrel -- made. Game over.

Bricktop, not sure how to take your post. Are you trying to help me, insult me or for some strange reason, both?
I don't have the gun in hand, it's for sale in a shop. I have not verified the signature part but I do know the gun is stainless, has Mark I scribed on it, has a bull-barrel and it did stay open with the empty mag in it. I know that the bolt stayed open on the Mark II so maybe something else accounts for this. Could the after market mag cause it? I am only stating what I saw and what I believe it is but I will be going back to take a second look today. I really wasn't that interested in it until I got the chance to look it up online and ask around. I have also not found anything that tells me if the signature series was made in a BB. Aside from the attack on me personally thanks for the help, I guess. If I knew for sure what I was looking at I probably wouldn't be posting this looking for help. Thanks again to those who have tried to help me out here.

If it is stainless steel and has a bull barrel, it is NOT a Mark I, nor is it marked as such. And it is not marked with Bill Ruger's signature.

I'd get the serial number, send it to Ruger for info. They should have records.
