It's a .338 Federal that already had the Rick Bin paint job on the stock when I bought it. A couple months ago I had all the metal Teflon coated by Blackice Coatings here in Utah. I bought it thinking it would be the ideal close-cover spot and stalk bear rifle and ended up killing an Idaho black bear with it in May at 340 yards. Go figure!... Very cool! Details? Bullet? And yes, that is a nice looking Kimber.

Factory 180gr Accubond, 340 yards at the far edge of a meadow ranged with Leica 10x42 Geovids at last light, 45 minutes spent looking with flashlights (talk about hair raising!), recovered the following morning about 80 yards from where I'd seen him go into the thick stuff.

GW, let's hear the story. I would love to know the details of the Fed on the bear.

Did the bullet exit? How big was the bear? Where did you hit the bear? Beautiful rifle.

No doubt...
Not to slam their rifles or jack the thread, but my collection includes only two Kimbers. One is the Montana and the other is the pictured Eclipse II. Of the two, I'd part with the rifle a hundred times over before I'd part with that particular .45.

I have a pro carry. I like it a lot and I have shot thousands of rounds thorugh it. But at the end of the day, I'll take a revolver for real pistol work.

I have several I'm fond of... but we're straying out of Kimber territory. Don't want to upset the Kimberites.

Now Smith and Wesson, they make a quality firearm... I walked into a store today and was really thinking about getting a 257 Montana on order. I want a Bob, but I would have to make room in my safe. I can't justify selling good guns to myself. A true damned if you do, damned if you don't type of situation.

In my book, there's ALWAYS room for a .257. I just happen to prefer the Roy.

Thats not possible! Everybody knows .338 feds are limited to 200 yards max. Maybe 250 with the right shooter, over-max pressure loads, and the right moon phase.
