This thread has some GORGEOUS rifle porn! Wow, gents.... can't fault these Mauser and Winny, wood and blue Bob's! I only have one rifle with wood in this class and ocnsider myself fortunate to have at least one. Not a Bob so I won't put it up here, but I sure like looking at these. Safariman~ I am having one built in .257 Bob and thats why I wanted to see others up here...but please feel free to indulge us !

beautiful rifles....which reminds me I need to get Mickey working on turning a Santa Barbara 98 action into a Roberts for me. this one is my daughter's, left hand 700, 21 inch Douglas SS 1 in 10 twist, featherweight contour, Brown stock, Leupold compact in Talleys, blueprinted and bedded by Mickey, who also did the stock painting per my daughter's color scheme. 12 1/2 inch pull, weighs 6 lb. 10 oz with scope. this is one of the first groups I shot with it when I picked it up at Mickey's shop. Grace's first group with it, in the rain, was sub 1/2 MOA. It do shoot.

117 gr Hornady factory loads....I haven't even bought dies for it yet, because I doubt I can beat these.
did run a box of federal premium 120 partitions through it with similar, sub MOA results.

About the only rifle that could be in ths company with head held high and even at that not up to the standard of a couple others here but, I consider it to be quite pretty and I am proud to death of it. Hunt with it a lot. Since you asked...... Rifle in question, up in the rimrock country, and a victim in hand This rifle is one that knows how to get AHEAD, er, ah a head? That was all that was showing when I had to take the shot. From sticks at about 150 yards. Accurate little rifles are a hoot! And now, the actual rifle close ups by request. Sako Riihimaki with custom wood, buttplate, gripcap, barrel, and topped with a Loopy Vari X lll, older model in gloss blue4.5-14x40 A.O. One of my all time favorite rifles, enjoy. THANKS! I love my little Sako's. Have another set up for bench shooting in 223. Yeah, you should get one. There is a reason that the 22 Hornet fell on hard times starting in the 1950's....

I'd go 1-9", I've had some issues with 110 Nosler AB's in a 1-10". Trust me, an inch extra won't hurt but not quite enough will. And you're right on this one.. I musta not had enough coffee that day.. For some reason my MIND said 1-9 but my FINGERS said 1-10.. I gotta cut 'em off at some point.. 1-9 will be the twist..

Certainly does ! I personally haven't quite caught on to the Ackleys...yet. The question in my mind has been, If "more" is wanted or needed, why not buy something bigger and possibly less hassle on the ammo ? But I'll get there one day

deg967, just to keep the PO spirit alive!!! heck a 25-06 can and will do everything a 257 AI can, and so will the +p's now, minus 100-150fps. i donot think the animals know the difference anyway. Bob's 2 cents

Thanks, Bob Too many calibers and not enough time for the working man to hunt with them all.
