Well Guys it's all coming together. Today it shot about a 1.25 inch group with a 100 grain Hornady over 40 grs of Varget. I will try to work up a load for a 129 grain Hornady Interlok. I found the bolt was touching the stock and so was the round safety knob. Both were not visible so I used Machinist Blue to find the spots. A little Drimel tool work and it closed up. The barrel is so small,.535 most of its length. So I full length bedded it . When the .268 bullets come I will compare the results of the 140 .268 with the .264 140 Game Kings. The twist rate will perhaps be a problem. Oh and even a turd can shine if its polished with the right Stuff. Thats why I want to try the 129 Hornady's now. The first 2 bullets were 1/2 inch apart. The last one was with a hot barrel and opened up the group.

I have to say that that is easily the nicest looking Arisaka I have seen in a very long time. I hope it works out for you.

Thanks 'Bwana, I kinda like taking in strays. It can be very rewarding. One of my recently purchased Model 30 Remington 35 cal rifles shot a 3/8 inch group at 100 yards with the 180 gr Hornady SSP. All I had to do was clean 60 years of brass out of the barrel and crown it. She's like new now and I am fighting off my shooting Buddy cause he wants it. After they shoot like a house on fire they aren't as much fun as when they are sick. So he may get it to go with the other 11 Model 30's he has in his collection.

rvp....good looking Arisaka.....mine is very similar to yours and Jericho I did install a timney triger with side safety. Made the trigger a bunch better grin. And Steelhead is right about the turd thing - unless you are talking about coprolite - some of the most beautiful polished turds I ever saw....some people just don't have much of an imagination wink.

My gunsmith says he has done a few over the years, but it has

Jericho....I think that I found one for around $65.00. I think that they are $80 or so in Brownells but if you can find someone that gets the gunsmith discount they can be had in the $65 range. That is if I remember correctly confused

Well guys the Arisaka shot 7/8" at the range with 129 gr Hornady Interlock soft point over 38 grains of Varget. First 2 touched, but the last one with a hot barrel opened up the group. I am gonna keep tinkering for a few more days .

Good news! Fun when a plan works out. My 30 Belted Newton is a real problem child as well. Need to work on it some more.

If I am correct, they are not a drop in. Some minor grinding
and filing is involved.
