In Vermont it will be the DWM 1909 30-06 sporter with a 2.5-8 Leu if its not raining or snowing. Then it will be the M84M Montana 308 with a 2.5-8 Conquest. In CT the land is more open and if its raining it might be the Kimber 7mm WSM Montana with a 3-9 Conquest.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

For Montana I am taking my Sako 85 finnlight in 270 win and Sako 85 in 25-06. Both with Leupold 3.5x10x40mm CDS scopes.
Here at home I might use my old Sako 75 in 300 RUM or a Sako 75 in 270 WSM. Or I might try and kill one with my fairly new Sako A1 in 223...you guys keep saying it will work...grin.

If you are like most folks I know, you will do your deer hunting with several rifles this season. But what is your #1 rifle/scope/load that you will be hunting with this year?
RS Rem Model 7 LSS, 20" Pac-Nor barrel, Zeiss 1.8-5.5x38mm in Talley LW's. 225 Partition at 2500 fps. Perfect for most of my deer hunting. I will also likely carry my "new" 7WSM Kimber on some deer hunts up on the fringes of clearcuts.

Ruger Hawkeye, 338RCM reduced loads down to approx. 338Fed ballistics. 210gr TTSX I may use my RCM as well. It shoots 180 gr. BT's into 5/8".

Dober Livingston area. Probably between 1st and 2nd week of Nov.

Hi new here. Nice to meet you...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I'll start out with my 270 WSM Kimber Montana with 130 gr Winchester XP3 ammo. It has a Swarvoski 3x10x42 on it.
I'll use my custom 25-06 with a blued Remington 700 action and a stainless heavy contour 26" Lilja barrel. It groups great at 200 yards with 110 gr Winchester Supreme Elite accubonds. It has a Swarovski 4x12x50 with a BRX retical. The green with black web stock is a Alaskan II with a full lenght aluminum bedding block. It's been glass bedded also.
I have a custom John Gallagher "Lightweight Special" in 7mm Rem. Mag. It has a Swarovski 3x10x42, stainless Remington 700 action, and a stainless 26" fluted Hart barrel with muzzle brake. I shoot 140 gr Federal Supreme accubonds in it.
I'm sure I'll pull a couple more out of the safe before the three month deer season ends in Alabama.

Tikka .270, SWFA SS 3x9, 140 Berger with 59gr H4831. Load switches to the Barnes 110TTSX over 59gr of H4350 for lead free zones.

My Winchester Model 70 Classic SS in 270 WSM w/ 3-9x40 Zeiss Conquest & 140 gr Accubonds has been so reliable with one shot kills at all ranges that I feel like I'd be being unfaithful to shoot anything else. That being said I have a couple other Model 70's in 30-06 and 300 WSM that need some use as well as "my wife's" Ruger No. 1 in 25-06.

If I'm wrong, I'll admit it. If I don't reply further, I'm satisfied with my side of the "debate." ...nuff said.

Winchester M70 Featherweight 30-06 w/Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36 or VX3 1.75-6x32. Loaded with 180gr Nosler Partitions on top of 57gr of H4350 with WW cases and WLR primer.
Or, if I can get a 25-06 swung soon enough......

My new CZ 550 American kevlar stock in .270 win. Very accurate right out of the box.

RS Your turn.....I'm betting something in .257, but won't the Beisen or the NULA get to go? Choices, choices....
